View Full Version : .MAP-files crash Maya on Mac OSX

Hi there,

is somebody willing to tell me the right command for .map file conversion on a Mac?

I tried using:

imf_copy -pvr image.iff
imf_copy -vBr image.iff
imf_copy -vLr image.iff

The map files are getting created without error messages, but as soon as I load them into the file texture node in Maya 8.5 it crashes instantly.

So someone knows the proper way to do this on a Mac?

Hmmmm ... I am bumping this one also ... since I still didn't find a solution for this problem either.

Anybody has an idea? Is high res rendering of complex scenes even possible with Maya Mac????

Ok ... I found out that .map textures will work in Maya 8.5 for Mac as long as you don't use the -r flag when converting them with imf_copy AND use the mentalray texture_lookup node instead of the standard Maya file node.

What a glorious day for Mac users!!!

I will keep you updated on my adventure in getting Maya for Mac to work ;)

can you write how you converted the files? Did you use terminal? and what was the cmmand line?
