My first challenge, no good skill in 3D still beginner in this matter and worst English but pa’ lante, the concept is based in this history:
The great master sorcerer Cuban tata o’malanga, discover very old ritual of the Osha, who give the name of the sentence “making conscience”, sprinkle (pitch) a little plant very gentle care to rise in your mind for this come and sleep in the guateque (party) of this tata is no the best form to end, only is you want to convert in one of the living moving irocos plant.

This storyboard is a excuse to call this animation, I star to think maybe I wrong to go for animation but i have a little experience in traditional animation and some in rigging but with the rig etc is a great time to do something nice.
To understand the story here a few explanation:
Close up of ear we see drop a seed and star to grow inside of this - the camera travel in zoom back, and show the scene of the concept, and close to the eyes of the poor guy and I use a fast change and go to the optic of the guy, and see a close-up image subjective of the Irocos and Tata face.
This all, I hope I can finish.
All comments and critics are welcome.

i beging to model one off the character they are very simple because i want animate and i not good animator with complex mesh.
OVERCONTRAST: thanks i try to do something not influence by anime style or european, very hard to do we see this all the time, and are good i try to rescue the latinoamerican culture in all my works, you know with sabor!!!,jeje bye.

The Tata smooth, the hair and cloth I do later with dynamic not model, for speed the animation, well I try, some time the cloth simulation are very hard and is better cloth poly and some reactor in vertices, I not sure for this in this moment, any comments and critics are welcome.
Ania – yes is the evil, thanks I try to spend more time in this because I am very slow and when I see the others works I feel I need more practice and speed jeje.

Hola Gustavo, me gusta muchiisimo la idea! Great idea and very original approach! :thumbsup: A Osha ritual sounds cool man!! and the design of characters is really nice with a unique style, great latinoamerican touch!! (sabor!! hermano!! sii!!) I cant wait to see the Irocos plant men models!
(Sobre tu storyboard, creo que al final, siguiendo en subjetiva, el "chavo" :D al que le implantaron la semilla, debería observarse las manos y los brazos y ver como se convierte en una planta, sólo una idea, no me hagas caso :D english version :D - I think that at the end of the animation the guy with the seed, in a subjective shot, stare his hands and see the transformation to a plant, only a comment-) Again great work and following your progress in the concept and animation ( Aqui sigo para apoyarte Gustavo !! :beer: )

good idea, i star to afraid not end, i am very slow in model, i like your final story change, i try to do maybe with some morph target if i can they close very good the story thanks, feel free for comments.
lo intentare no soy rapido y temo no teminar jeje, pero eso cierra bien chevere el cuento gracias, el nivel mexicano me tiene loco tremenda escuela de dibujo por alla, yo migre a 3d, suerte con tu trabajo tambien, vas por un camino increible...

this is funny how there are so much common points between your designs and african masks. I love this kind of character but i prefer the first one, the shapes are clearer.

some update, i stop this character for begin the irocos.
Jayf - Thanks for the comments, is true i based in african art, here in caribbean are much african culture, with rituals, music, dance, etc i love too this art off course with sabor latino, look alike but not the same, i try to clean the shapes.

Image post - This is the basic models of irocos, detail and some refined mesh I start to do for pass and work in deformation maps.
I begin a illustration entry with the same concept of animation the two entry are link, I don’t can finish the animation storyboard to much ambition for me, and off course when I think I have time to the challenge come two works in the same time to finish , I concentrate in one illustration, and post models , texturing and one turn around of 10 sec in animation, I need too post all the milestone in illustration included the concept, 4 character rigged is much for me.

Pues si ahora estas en ilustracion esto se va a poner bueno:D, los Irocos estan de poca! no es nada facil encontrar una nueva forma para un ser fantastico, pero yo creo que nunca habia visto nada parecido a ese con la cabeza como de hoja.

What an interesting legs concepts, like they are made of delicate roots! Heads are great too. Only the chest and arms part looks something too plain and too thin to me, comparing to other...

Some detail in the roots, need more detail to start deformation maps, the eye is only ref to align the vertexs.
Overcontrast - thanks man, i not animate try to finish like illustration, to much for me character jeje. models, texture and turn around of the scene post here for the categories you know, cool you like the looking.
Gabriel - jeje espero te sirva el link de moebius, gracias tengo siglos sin tratar de hacer algo que sea como una ilustracion, espero hacer algo con nivel.
Npantic - hi thanks i totaly agree with you i need to add detail in the chest, when finish basic model i try with deform map for speed, now i want a fundation mesh for later, and yes i guess to work the join lengs, body maybe much thin but i like jeje.

i like the pre-vis sketch. will be neat to see it in motion. the legs on you alien creature are great. very organic.
