is it possible to make a smooth horizon in maya?

I'm using a nurbs plane for my water surface, but no matter how I scale it I will always have this hard line between the sky and the water, which is not natural.

so is it possible to smooth this in maya?

Try to use fog, I suggest physical fog>sky

make a NURBS torus.
this is important because the NURBS torus gets bigger in all directions when scaled. vs. polys witch dont scale the thickness of the torus.

then scale really big and aply a shader glow.
I havn't tried it but it might work
