Wow ! This has to be one of the strangest I've seen so far :) but it's cool, You should post more pictures of it, so we can see it from different angle. good work :)

Hey no probl. Thanks, the oddness is exactly what I was going for! Notice what his prosthetic peice is His inner organs ;) Now for some clothes . . . maybe next weekend.
01 January 2002, 03:51 AM
New clothes, done by hand (soo long) updated body,
Any ideas on what accessories I can add to the clothes ? (or anything else) Hopefully will get textured soon ;) (nicer red, blue and dirty white + actual skin shader!)
P.S. Yes & . . . I was very lonely on page 2

Cienma 4d by Maxon, pretty good stuff and nice workflow, but it still lacks some stuff (Better Animation, edge tools etc.)
Goto Cinema 4D Website (http://www.cinema4d.com)
Thanks for the reply!

good start Farley, but you should remove the clothes, we don't see the body enought
01 January 2002, 08:38 PM
I was thinking about the same thing, but was a little fearfull of undoing all the work, What would you say about just keeping it as a cape ? or maybe just the top part. I'll probably add some armor or something . . .
Thanks for responding and whatever I do it should be done by tommorow ;)
01 January 2002, 03:59 PM
Here we are. Now for an accesory an' some riggin' :o BTW what is better for viewing textured or not? (I just figured colors might separate some of the details either way a rad. render is probably needed anyway)
Thanks again for all your replies,

NOW this is depressing 3 posts in a row in solus, oh well it is mid-week anyway, and I just cannot get over the amazing detail in pascal's, cerreto, fellipe martins, Matt Clark to name a few,(the buckles, leather shoes, armor, ruffles, etc.) I think most here have improved just by browsing, Hopefully this is an improvement, still don't know 'bout the clothes (they are just removed temporarily for clarity) :
Thanks again Pascal, el gatto and Sheep Factory,

damn, it's hard to be original!
You beated me with the propellor arm,
Just posted my thread, didn't saw your's until now.
Strange model, he got some weird limbs, good luck with the rigging :)
01 January 2002, 07:35 AM
The character has all these mechanical parts to him but yet he has so much flow and natural lines that make up his body.
Kinda reminds me of a trees root system.
(Maybe I'm crazy?)
I really like it.
The folds under his eyes are a nice touch. :)
Q: What do the two tubes from his mid section do?
01 January 2002, 09:14 PM
Hey thanks for the compliments! Yeh. I like that. Tree-like ;)
"Q: What do the two tubes from his mid section do?
Ahh glad someone asked (though I'm guessing you have a good idea :)) All the tubes and on the version below here are for his food etc, thats what the big prop thing is for, it's a mouth. Also why you can see his backbone (yeh he's that skinny
"damn, it's hard to be original!"
No kidding! But still with over 40 people now, it seems like just about everyone has something different :)
"Strange model, he got some weird limbs, good luck with the rigging"
Oh that's going to be a nightmare, the body itself deforms pretty well, but the mech stuff is going to take some finesse-ing
see you two,

I like the friendly look of your character, he looks friendly without looking stupid.
Just one thing, how can he stand on his toes ? (i mean the balance), maybe i'm just jealous cause i can't stand more than 2s on mine. ;)
01 January 2002, 03:11 AM
Actually thats a good point about the feet, I guess I have to increase the amount of "muscle around that area like a kangaroo and then lengthen his toes a bit. The ballence issue I'm tring to take care of with his tail looping around in front of him. IF I can get him boned and riged hopefully it should be more obvious. Thanks for the response !

I wanted to wait a little before posting.
You're character is so ... strange ! Of course ! It's an alien !
I like to look at him, trying to understand his ... body. I see a head, feet, clothes, but not really what's between them.
Secondly I like his eyes. They is the light of life in and a bit of sadness....
I just love de contrast between thes eyes and the alien look.
That's great Farley !
01 January 2002, 04:43 PM
Thanks a lot Krep! In fact that is absolutely what I was going for! The eyes are certainly a focus as they should be in most intellegent things :) Here is a really REALLY quick motion test nice and small (334kb, 2sec, DVX) He is just looking around for someone to "interact" with, and testing his tail and prop ;)
Thank you so much for the complements, even if I don't think I really deverve all of them :)

Heres' an image close to final lot's of tweeking in the backround in PS, almost all handpainted for the backround, and the alien has a quick set of filters to match. I realize it is not the most dynamic of images, but I hope it still looks decent, low key and a little old and sad, kinda like the pirate, and my entry itself :)

Also a small motion test:

Thanks all of you guys for such a great time! And nice update on the site too -> but could you re-spell meett to meet :D
01 January 2002, 01:52 AM
Alright small update the sky is a little brighter, any other tweeks and or drastic changes? I'll have some more pose tests up too, but this is the "final image". Is that what is soposed to be presented or somthing else . . . on this I am a bit hazy
01 January 2002, 02:02 AM
heya! the thing is that it is really hard to understand the pict cause everything is almost same tone... imagine your pict in black and white, and you'l see what I mean ;)
01 January 2002, 08:16 AM
the propeller (sp) arm is pretty righteous dude.
i like the chordes wrapped around the prostithese (sp?)
02 February 2002, 05:17 AM
- Thanks dickie52, I borrowed those from a couple of entries, but hopefully they're not too much of a rip off :)
- Pascal, I did exactly what you said . . . it was quite washed out, hopefully this update is a bit better ;) I guess too much time taking things for granted. I did not exactly change the tone all that much, but did add some contrast between objects. Is it any better ? I'll have some more views, and another big pic like this one. . . or maybe just start the next entry for next month's shindig :D
