View Full Version : Is there a mel script to select/delete duplicate faces..

I have a poly mesh which has some duplicate faces sitting on top of each other. Is there a script to find these based on one face sitting on top of another? (It's a large mesh and will take me an age to go through and check each face by hand.)
Thanks guys

select all the vertices, then merge the vertices with a very small threshold.

Hi Rob,
thanks for answering my question. This method just welds the vertices and you still end up with duplicate faces which are a nightmare to find.
Thanks for your help though.

Have you tried Selection Constraints?

I believe poly cleanup will find duplicate faces. Under Mesh > Cleanup... (Maya 8) or Polygons > Cleanup (Maya 7). In Maya 8 the option is called Lamina faces.
