View Full Version : Length of bent curve in Util Nodes?...

07 July 2007, 09:36 AM
I'm rigging a scorpian tail with spline IK and want to be able to stretch the joints of the tail so it always stretches to the IK end...
Normally I use the multiply/divide node to get a new length and pipe that into a condition node, but this will only work on straight curves...

Prefereably i'd like to use a node based setup as I believe it would evaluate better in animation, but if anyone could shed some light onto my problem that would be very helpful...

What you are looking for is the curveinfo node.

select your curve and use:
arclen -ch 1;

another way would to use the measuretool and plot in the end and start. that would prodcuve a archlength node, where you can output your lenght- its just a bit more slow.

Hope it helps.

Cheers, arclen is exactly what I needed...
