Hi everybody...I didnt post for a long time but here I am to introduce myself and my team. A couple of team workers have published our work in other thread, I post the link to that entries below (sorry for that, we have'nt understood well the team management rules).
Well my name is Julián Rojas Millán (team leader) I'm from Caracas, Venezuela, as well as of all of my team fellas. We are very excited about participatin in this challenge, is our very first time in a competition like this one. We have in our team computists, mathematician and artists, but dont be afraid: we are a very big bunch of rookies!!!, we want to create a work group to support personal and team projects like this one, and also we are looking for experience in 3D to get into the next challenge. Some of us work for a CG Lab in Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV) in Caracas, we have all the support for the lab (I will post the web adress of this lab soon), others are students of arts in IUESAPAR (an arts institute in Caracas). As I already said: we are glad to be here sharing our expirience and learning as much as we can from you.

We have at least 3 members more, but they have'nt enter in CgTalk yet, they will soon.
Seems like our team is big (and it is), but as I said, we have just a few experience in 3D (except for Eduardo Roa who already has a reel), we want to work in 3D project to get experience. I hope that we will obtained it.
We have a lot of artists and we are glad for that, but our biggest flawl is that we dont have a compositing artist, wich makes us to render without passes, we hope to fix that soon: looking for someone who want to joy us or learn it jejejeje. Also, we have more modelers that animators, but the whole team (the ones with 3D experience) will get involved in the animation process. We will use Maya as our main program (using the licenses of our lab), also we are planing to use the 3D Scanner of the lab, but only if it is necessary. We will use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for the texure work and Final Cut for the edition process. We havent defined our sound mixer programm yet.

This was a very first sketch of Nerio Aguirre, but we desist from the idea to ensure the time. The modeling an skinning process will take a lot of time cuz we are not specialists in those area (organical modeling and skinning). I publish it anyway

We decided to make a futurist adaptation of the screenplay, cuz it allows us to focus in our strenght in 3D, and the modeling process wouldl be easy (no organical) but we dont loose freedom in the creativity. This is a very rough sketch for the main male character by Nerio Aguirre.

well... this is a work made while we were discussing the main scenes of the short... they are (this and the next one) just rough drawings with some explanations and dialogues (in spanish for now)...this sketches were by Israel Monasterios.

Arquímedes Gonzáles designed this dragon for the short... is an early version of the character... as well of the other ones, is a robot dragon...

An advanced design of John, we want a childish model cuz John behaves as a litlle child: inmature a very self interested, so we want to reflect that in the model... The design is by Nerio Aguirre.

José Mota joined us (but he is not entered in the challenge yet)... we are glad because is a very talented artist and designer, he lives far from Caracas (the city where most of the team members live), and is a true "challenge" for him cuz he has to the all the work online. For the final model of Amy we asked him some features: based on the early stages of the females models, the final Amy has to be a very sexy and beautiful robot, a mature one (upgraded in our robot context), smart, with a serious job (like a military one for example). José reached all those requirements in our opinion, and the draw is a very good one. He is actually doing it again to put some colour, but this design is our image plane for the modeling process.

And finally the back design of AMy, as I said, we are using this images for the modleing process (which is almost finished for the main characther and the set). Jose maybe give us a final design (a colored one) in the next week.

As well as Amy´s design, Jose designed the final model of John. Based in the primary sketches by Nerio Aguirre, we wanted a very inmature character (without any upgrade), a child who meet a girl in a "robot internet" and invited her for a date (to get his chances), but he is just a kid. Again Jose´s draw is awesome, we now finished the 3D model, I will post it later.

As you probably have seen so far, this 3D character requires a lot of work in the tentacles. The texture are been in discusion and creation by now.

We decided to include a service robot in the gallery, who collects garbage or somthing like that. Yeah, is weird (garbage??? in a museum???) but we found it very funny. It is fully animated right now. I will post the video when we finish the riggin and the walk cycles of Amy and John.

Another view of the service robot model. It was modeled directly in maya, cuz it is a very simple design (a revolved surface with some tweaks), but we have discussed it ´s inclussion before. If you check the early story board ther is a R2D2-like garbage robot. We decided to change the first idea for the one in te picture. As you can see the texturing process is almost done.

The firs 3D model of John by Daniel Moreno, with some help of mine. He needs some tweaks mostly in the head, but is almost done. May you porbably dont see it, but right now he doesnt have aneck, we are designing it.

Hi, we had some problem with the animation, and them we get late a little bit... for now here are others sketches (final version, but not colored) of the rest of the characther... this time the dragon, a mechanical view inspired in trnasformers, but less complicated jejejeje. The sketch is by Arquimedes Gonzales.

Inspired in H.R Giger portraits work, Arquimedes have designed this head for the bald woman. We havent decided yet if include the organical octopus showed before, or designed a mechanical one to put in woman's head.

A final sketch of the tentacled characther in teh first picture. We have a very big discussion about this character 'cuz different people imagined it in differents ways: as an elephant, octupus etc. Nerio Aguirre finally propose this version, and we decided to adopt it as a character, the rest of the design (the first 3D octopus and other stills that I didn`t upload yet) will be used in other scenes.

We have rigged John Character. We are creating the cycles, but the character has some lack in the design, wich difficults the rigging process, basicly the skeleton bind in some improper ways the big arm, but we are correcting it in the cycles, just using animation for that.

Another one. The render was by Eduardo Roa. Teh rigging process was completed also by Eduardo, teaching us the pipeline. The poses was intended to test the lacks of the character, the arm and expressions. We are very glad with the results, a combination of the rigging and the animation.

As I said, the character design have some problems, the arm is very big for animation (but we decided to leave it that way to preserve the original idea). Is hard to bend it without some minor improper effects, but we are working out that.

In the part when John runs away from the different ghosts, we decided to make some sharp discs, going very fast and breaking the floor while they aproach our character... well, in this video we are testing the programation for the breaking floor and some particles flying around. We decide to use a driven animation and some mel programming applied to a vertices cluster.
