First of all GOOD LUCK TO ALL CONTESTANTS!
With this idea I intend to learn how to make and rig characters; to use better the illumination/shadows to "tell" the story; to push my knowledge a bit more and to enjoy myself...
The idea derives a little from the movie "Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988)" but without alien clowns and all... if I manage to do the animation, I think the idea will be even more apparent...
He have a saying - "behind every clow that laughs there's a clown that cries"... in here... that concept goes well beyond crying...

So good to see you here! The sketch looks great and I kind of understand the point!
I think this will go very well with the lighting setup you have in mind!

This is a perspective view of the clowns house... It's lacking lots of stuff (tapestry, toys...) but it's just to show something... I've used the E-light script to do a rough ilumination... anyway... ilumination will be dim!
I know... The staircase doesn't lead anywhere...

A fish bowl containing a small red fish... it has escaped the fate of beng swimming on it's back ;)... it would be too macabre... ehehe

This could be an interesting piece, the concept has a lot of leeway to make it very surreal. Good start on the modelling,although it's so dark I'm having a bit of trouble seeing the shapes. Good luck for the challenge!

I've been waiting impatiently for you to start the tread and now it's on! Great start and
good looking building! I like the way you have modelled/simulated the cloth underneath
the fish bowle, though it's a bit dark to fully enjoy the folds!
Looking forward to seeing all those crazy Ideas you will put in there! I'm sure you got
loads of them!

Let me assure you both that I noted your critics about the lighting... I'll improve it! Anyway is just a "render test" so...
Stay TUN(a)ned (another fish???) because I have lot's of ideas waiting to come out and see the dim light of life...
Meanwhile... back on modelling... damn those ears... they're thought!

In my last post I said the ears were though...
Damn figure modelling!!! Everything is though!!! Going to my 3rd try... this time with a different technic and approach... and a bit more polygons...
Anyway I hope I can post something in the end of the week!

I totally agree with you, it's tough doing human modeling, but please don't give up!
I know you wouldn't!
One small hint; stay lowpoly for as long as painfully possible, and even longer!
Subdividing prematurely will definitely make things harder if your mesh is not caged
I remember I ended up saving my very first "human" head as "Alien01.obj" in the end,
after days of tweaking and deforming! Not sure if that's a just comfort, but hey!

Seriously, you were going well until the Summer arrived! lol! Forget tanning, a greenish white is a true 3d artists' real skin color! :D
Kidding aside, you've got to get good ear references to be able to model something realistic, or go the "cartoon" route entirely! Have you noticed the character designs in Ratatouille? I found that modelling organic stuff, it helps a lot to think in terms of edgeloops (longitudinally) and their transverse edges. The edgeloops will run along the major shape crests or crevisses and wrinkles, and the rest of the topology will adjust itself according to those. Thanks for the link and the "force" that you're giving... anyway... I'm not tanning in the beach... I made a stop to rethink the concept and I'm also in an intensive course so... I canno't spare much time! Anyway I'll try to post my new concept and start working on it really hard soon...

After some thinking and a "reality check" I decided to retire from this contest... I'm doing too many things, with work, courses, and normal life that I cannot continue... at least now! My life will settle down somehwere in October but by then it will be too late so...
I wish all the best of luck and above all that you enjoy and learn something! I did... Before this I had never modelled or tried to model a human... Now I already did it! (never posted because it was too bad but...)
So... Keep your eyes open to BUGWARS and a next WIP...

Really sad news, you having to stop working on your concept, but hey, first things first!
I have given up CG many times in the past in favor of practical things and work, so I
think I understand you, but of course you can resume rendering anytime, right?

OK for the constant support man... But... 9 days?! No... it's in October so... more than 9 days!
The funny thing is that I'm giving up of CG in favour of... CG! The Character course is really intensive and the Cumbustion is about to start so... I can barely scratch myself! I need the time to practice what I'm learning and such...
Good news is... I'm back to Bugwars!
