View Full Version : subject: limit an object moving distance

I have a locator & a ball geometry.
I want to limit the ball movement within the radius from the locator.
Does anyone know how to write this expression??
Sorry, I am a MEL beginer.

Thanks people.

parent the ball to the locator, then set the limit transformation attributes on the ball (in the balls attribute editor) to go from -1 to 1 on all 3 axis.

err.. that is become like moving in a box (square volume).
If I want the ball move in a spherical volume, which set a maximun radius from the locator..
How do I do??

Thanks in advances...

It depends on what kind of Movement you're after, but could it help you to give a Geometry Constraint a try?
Make a sphere the size of your locator and constrain the smal l Sphere to it, using an additional Aim Constraint would make the sphere stay aligned orthogonal to the large sphere's surface.

Below's a short Gif, please note that the constraint was constrained to aim at the small sphere just to illustrate it indeed moves in the locator's "radius".
