View Full Version : Shadows for composite

I'm working a complex scece, which I want to render in 2 parts. One: the background scene
Two: The animated characters
Is there a way to render just the characters with their shadows so I can just pop them into combustion and layer the characters over the backgrounds?

make sure your ground plane is it's own unique surface and under the Advanced Tab in the Surface Editor, set your Alpha Channel to Shadow Density.

When you open up this sequence in combustion, the Alpha information will present you with everything in the scene but the ground plane. You can then composite your scene accordingly.
