I'm not sure what I'm using yet, but here are some ideas.
1) Emergency Tree Section... where a doctor has to get a pregnant tree's baby acorn out of her belly, as concerned children comfort their favorite swinging tree.
2)A bizarre world where the water is above the air.
3) A real, functioning steam locomotive playground ride
4) A robot ice cream man that serves bolts with oil topping and accepts only payment in metal, while kids try to convince him to take paper dollars.

Lots of nice concepts. I like the last one the most.
Good luck with the challenge.
I really like the giant hair concept...
The beach concept is good too, but I prefer the potential for some fantastically surreal things happening in the other.

I'm going with the crazy haired lady for now. She'll have tons of cats around her ankles and yard, and the kids will be doing all sorts of crazy things in her hair. The delivery man will be looking up startled.

I'm trying to get a loose idea of colors and composition here... it'll be a slow process but I wanted to do it all in color on layers.

IŽll give her a comb:thumbsup:

Many many great ideas in your thread even I don't understand everything on the last one :scream:
Really nice start.
The style reminds me of Bill Plympton, which is excellent in itself!

I can probably connect with this topic more than anyone in this thread. You got do it in the hood, LOL! Other ideas I have that you could incorporate in this piece: A chair a porch, just go get 'Boys in da Hood' and you will know what I mean. 'Baby Boy' is another one that comes to mind. Good luck with this one!

No crits so far, just wanted to sign myself in into this hilarious thread. good luck!

I've started to rough in some cats... I'll probably push their proportions further than this, as I want some hyper real characters for the whole scene.
Thanks so much for the comments guys, come back soon! :)

ha ha great concepts :) I like both the sand castle and the hair idea, but more drawn to the sandcastle one. I think because it reminds me of a few sandcastles I made as a kid and the inevitable demise of them all.
