Hey! It's going to be fun to see what you'll do here - I loved your work for EON
After Eon, what kind of work do you plan to do... really impatient to see that !
have fun Arturro !
Hello friend!! Looking for some impressive work in this thread .
06-25-2007, 07:08 PM
Hey arturro - great to see you in the fun! Looking forward to the concept :)
06-25-2007, 07:26 PM
Weee!.. The lazy bear is in! Cool:D
06-25-2007, 09:09 PM
I hope to get a nice ass kicking from you to force me work hard from t hebeginning, and not 4 weeks before deadline :) it worked in EON, but it were countless nights without sleeping
I have an idea already! stay tuned, some sketches tomorrow...
06-26-2007, 02:11 AM
forget about the pen man. After the last challenge i felt like using a hammer.
but we'll try to have more fun with this one.
it's tomorrow, where are the sketches?
06-26-2007, 08:02 AM
hehe, scanning :) only apply some color scheme and lighting plan in photoshop and I'm posting
06-26-2007, 09:46 AM
here is my idea... It's not new, I had it in my mind but never had chance to do it, now I think it fits to the subject!
first of all to understand my concept you have to know who Nicolaus Copernicus was... for those who're not sure:) He was a polish astronomer who formulated the first explicitly heliocentric model of the solar system (one of the first man to claim that sun is the center of t hesolar system, not earth).
This theory was rather unpopular in his days (15th/16th century). Some laughed of him, some cursed him for being a heretic. So for sure his behaviour, his views were extreamly strange and unpopular in that time!
That is my idea, I want to show that sometimes strange behaviour may be innovative and importand for mankind development. Those who laughed at Nicolaus Copernicus at that time, now would be considered idiots and morons... :)
As my work in soncerned I want to present Nicolaus playing with solar system in his mind (day dreaming). We will se some bishops cursing him and sneering at him, as well as some common citizens laughing at him while partying and having a beer. They all will see only Nicolaus strange behaviour while Nicolaus himself will see futuristic theory that revolucionized our astro-knowledge.
Picture will be in humoristic / caricature style.
stay tuned :)
06-26-2007, 09:58 AM
just quick shot, this is how he is presented on a famous painting by Jan Matejko (image from wikipedia):
06-26-2007, 11:17 AM
Hey Arturro. Good to see you again. I like your idea. As you say, what is sometimes considered to be strange behaviour can turn out to be genius! I look forward to seeing your idea develop. Good luck and enjoy.
06-26-2007, 12:03 PM
the idea is very solid... loved your work in the last challenge so i cant wait for this one
06-26-2007, 12:40 PM
nice you find it interesting, I'm still a bit afraid as it is rather deeper subject. I'm not sure if here just simple fun and crazy ideas will be sucessfull
06-26-2007, 04:27 PM
I really like your idea. I don't thinkit should be fun only that counts, the challenge will be much more interesting with different takes on the topic... this has some real potential - stick with it
I'm waiting for the models
but I would remove the music stand.
maybe somewhere on the side you can add a model of the imagination of the world they had that time (some glass half-sphere with the flat earth at the bottom, and a sun attached to the glass)
06-26-2007, 04:57 PM
Hey, great idea Arturro, definitely an interesting take on the subject matter. Can't wait to see where you go with this.
06-26-2007, 04:58 PM
Gunilla <- Thanks! I hope to pull a lot out of it.
Ania <- Thank you as well! wonderful idea about putting somewhere the world they thought was real at that time! It's even a muss to complete the story of the picture and to leave no doubts on the content :) music stand will stay perhaps in different form.. it's not a music stand put a stand fot the book here Nicolaus wrote his theory :) But if you find it confusing... many other people can... so perhaps it is a good idea to forget about it and only leave some papers, books on the ground and some papers flying around on the wind... not to confuse anybody. That we will see in the scene. Thanks again!
06-26-2007, 04:59 PM
jporter313 <- thanks as well, you all give me a nice push, as I was really afraid about my concept if it's good and clear enough
06-26-2007, 05:03 PM
It looks pretty interesting so far. I can't wait to see it finished.
06-26-2007, 05:35 PM
Copernicus huh? I always thought that was Doc's dog in BTTF3. :D I like how you're using a historical concept for the challenge. Nice.
Awasome Idea .I never saw Mikołaj Kopernik as 3d subject ...and very patriotic as well .
06-26-2007, 07:29 PM
Thanks everybody for your interest! I hope to start modelling soon :)
Ania <- I have to think more about this showing flat earth idea somewhere in the scene, spherical earth were quite popular truth at his days, problme was only earth in the center of universe, which copernicus changed to sun being a center os our solar system. Sphericizm of earth was not confirmed yet for sure, but at that time it was a common believe... so I have to think it over if interpreting history in different way to show better the idea behind the concept is worth it! faking history (a bit :)) won't be a terrible thing, but still... we will see. Time will show. Perhaps I will find a way to show clearly that they believed that earth (spherical) is the center of everything...
06-26-2007, 07:37 PM
hiya Artur .. hows it going ? .. lol nice concept and long time no see :).
06-26-2007, 08:39 PM
wow weee my friend! that's a truly long time:) nice to see you back, are you in the challenge? I can't see you yet
06-26-2007, 08:42 PM
not yet my friend ..but soon  !
06-26-2007, 09:15 PM
I hope you will  Now I have to recall how to model 3d objects... kiddin'
06-26-2007, 09:28 PM
haha good one :p
06-26-2007, 10:12 PM
Hey man !
Discovering your concept , and I gotta say it's quite different from the others , so for this only reason , it should be really cool !
That said , the theme is very interesting , I just can't wait to see how you're gonna set up the scene ! I'm so gonna follow your progress ...
06-26-2007, 10:23 PM
I think you have a good idea. Always there was a "strange behavior" surrounding people who can watch beyond, hehe.
I wish you a lot of wishes!:D
06-26-2007, 11:07 PM
oooh it's quite an ambitious concept I have to say! :applause:
06-27-2007, 06:30 AM
Nice concept, very serious but it will be fun to see it in cartoon !
06-29-2007, 10:06 AM
Hi pal, still remember me? :) Concept and start off looks promising... subscribed!
07-02-2007, 01:05 PM
thanks for comments. I was still fighting with this idea being afraid if it's not too serious, but I decided to finally go for it ;) the key here will be definitely characters' expressions and poses.
I plan to make quite photorealistic renders of the surrounding, but with a bit cartoony modelling, and as characters are concerned I want to make them similar in style to:
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=121&t=431478 (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=121&t=431478%20) (hard to get such a master level, but I will try :) )
theuni <- sure man, I was hoping to find you in this challenge as well :)
07-02-2007, 01:11 PM
Yeah I really love it !
Great if you planed to do something like that !
07-02-2007, 02:44 PM
Sorry arturro, time has been my enemy the past couple months but I had to take a few seconds to comment on you idea. IT ROCKS! Being the mega science geek I am and mylove of history you have come up with one of, if not 'the' best idea so far! In fact you lead me to several Einstein ideas which I kinda liked but there was no way I was going to steal you thunder. So you had better get on with dusting those modeling skills off I see winner written all over this one!
07-02-2007, 10:29 PM
aurora <- wow, thanks for such a kind words, I'm glad that you found it so interesting and full of content. I hope to push execution to the similar level as content of the concept is :)
07-03-2007, 01:56 AM

07-06-2007, 08:13 AM
thanks guys! I really appreciate your interest.
I did some commercial stuff and now will have a whole week long vacation :) So I'll be back on 15th of July and will start doing some stuff, I'm so excited about this and just cannot botch this one :)
good luck to you all and don't finish without me
07-08-2007, 01:23 PM
Idea is really great, very complex.
I especially like that this concept is meaningful.
Waiting next update.
07-10-2007, 10:05 PM
Wow. Really has a strangeness to it (as it's supposed to right?) and I like that it's got some history to it and tells a story. Best of luck!!
08-05-2007, 07:59 PM
Hello arturro, nice to se you again....
you have a cool idea,,,"copernicus dream"...nice one, i´m waiting for 3d skechtes!
08-12-2007, 08:39 PM
hey bro! where are ya??
08-16-2007, 06:53 PM
Thanks for interest. First, I had some urgent commercial stuff to be done, and recently I had some health problems. Not too nice, now I'm going to recover myself and to do a total restart and reboot :) North of Spain in the mountains over the Atlantic), and will be there untill 5th of September... I dont' give up and I'm seriously planning to finish this one. Of course no way to make a nice character animation, so I will only make some camera move to fulfil all the milestones. Concept is still the same, a lot of work to be done, but I will have some time and wht's important power to do it.
So stay tuned and see you on the beginning of September
