A friend of mine told me I should enter, so here I am. Looking forward to this challenge, I’ve watch a few people go through these challenges before and never really felt like entering. Now that I have the time since I just graduated from College I’ll be joining the havoc of CG talk.

So far I’m thinking of a few different things, the first being a teddy bear with knives for hands, lonely and forgotten, but still wanting to be loved and in desperate need of a hug.
The other is one a friend was joking about, a piñata opening it self up and eating the candy in which it holds.
I’ll come up with more as time goes on, I’ll have something better to post later on as well.

Yet another idea, a zombie doctor delivering a new born baby child, the doctor is in chains and held in check by the nursing staff. Instead of slapping the child on the butt, the doctor tries to bite the child’s head. The nurse staff quickly subdues the doctor before the jaws get too close. Silly doctor the children need to age, like fine wine, before they are consumption.

So it’s been decided that the piñata devouring its own innards is the way to go. The story goes like this:
We come across a piñata tided up in a tree, swaying back and forth trying to get it self free. The rope that holds the little piñata captive snaps and it falls to the ground, landing and cracking itself open. A small piece of candy falls out from eh wound in the piñata’s legs. It devours more of the delicious delights to replenish itself from the one it had lost. Overcome with greed the piñata rips off its own leg and starts to shovel the candy into its own mouth in delight.
I’ll have a few concept sketches up soon.

great idea for the piñata. Are you experienced in animation or setup?
Participating the challenge is always a hard step for the first time. I doubted for a week if i should enter. But after you experienced one, you can't stop. I hope this 3rd challenge of mine will be worth something.

Are you experienced in animation or setup?
I have about 8 year of experience in working with 3D studio Max, but now I’ve made the switch over to Maya and mudbox. This is the first real project that I have using Maya, so we will se how it all goes. I have a lot to learn and only a little time to learn it in.

Ok there is a new character in the story, a hungry starving squirrel. That harasses a piñata hanging from a tree. A scuffle ensues and the piñata falls to the ground after the squirrel chews through the rope that holds it up. We see the piñata lying on the ground in a pile of its own candy, trying to scope it up before they are taken by the squirrel. The piñata uses his broken off leg that was detached during the fall to scoop up the candy and poor it in through the door in its belly.
The squirrel comes to collect its far share from the fallen piñata, after a quick dissolve to the piñata hanging up in the tree again, we now see the squirrel stuck in the open stump o the piñata’s leg holding back the candy.

Here is the first quick sketches of the squirrel that will be harassing the piñata. I’m more partial to the one on the left since its stylized more, so I think I’ll be focusing on that one more then the starving crazed looking squirrel on the right. Just hope I can rig it since I’ve moved form MAX to MAYA, would nurbs be a better modeling method for this character then polygons? I’m also thinking of making this a flying squirrel just to ad some more acrobatic gestures.

The primes of my animation is a pitch to a network executive for a now reality TV show. There at the moment four main characters in this short, the pitcher, a documenting camera man, a secretary, and the network executive.
Pitcher – Flamboyantly paranoid, talkative, never regrets or holds back when it comes to talking about obscene and delicate topics, fears that his ideas will be stolen and used without proper compensation.
Camera Man – The so-called average Joe, easily embraced, and constantly hackled by the office secretary, contradicts the Pitchers ideas and concepts on regular bases.
Office Secretary – energetic and always on the move, short and never leave his chair. Happy to file and answer the phone but hostile to all those that are not part of the office.
TV Executive – Usually has a soulless demeanor, has produced shows that involve death, sex, drugs, drama, and extreme bigotry. He is only interested in the final outcome that generates money.
Because of the pitcher’s paranoia’s, he has hired the camera man to record all of his dealings as insurance against idea theft. I want to work in a way that the recording can be spun into a benefit as well, not sure how to do that as of yet.
The animation is held in three major locations, a car interior, office waiting room, and sleazy executive office. Main introductions of the pitcher and the camera man are located in the car. Waiting room introduces the secretary that hackles the camera man constantly. We first see and meat the TV executive in his office that is smoke filled and littered in sleazy posters and magazines of unknown TV shows that were never aired.
At the moment I’m still designing things, I have a strange feeling that I have seen the design for the camera man before, on TV somewhere but I can’t remember where, if anyone know where the camera man comes from and look familiar please let me know so I can redesign him.
