Well folks, here's my concept ' Mallard's Lament'

From being a world renound violin soloist Edward C Mallard now lives in a run down apartment.
The fame and fortune are gone and for the past six years his only companion has been a duck,
that he rescued from a park as a fledgeling.
Sadly, during the night, his trusty friend passed away. In a confused expression of grief he
manifests a 'strange behaviour', clinging the ducks limp body to his chest, he picks up his
violin bow and gently strokes it back and forth along the soft downy feathers of the duck.
It will be the last song he will ever play..........

Poetic, sad and beautiful...
Have fun Steven !

Thank you all for your comments, i will reply individually when i get some time.

Scene two 'The resting place'

Edward Mallard stored his precious violin in an old wooden case. A beautiful object inlayed with rare woods and mother of pearl with velvet padding.
In his mind he see's it as the safest place he can lay his trusty friend to rest.

Scene three, the happy ending

The ritual is over, Edward Mallard has said goodby to his friend in the best way he knew how.
He sits down at his table and is ovrwhelmed by a feeling of warmth and freedom. In the corner of his eye he thinks he saw three china ducks that he has on his wall fly across the room

I think i'm going to take my first post and switch over to the illustration catagory, i think the image is strong enough to stand on it's own without the animation, i'm realy pushed for time atm and i want to enjoy the challenge. I'd rather do something less complicated but well other than rush things and produce something sub-standard. Good luck to you all.

yeah, that first scene is pretty strong and can stand all on his own.

06-29-2007, 07:47 PM
Wah:cry: we'll miss you mate...

Good luck over in the realms of the pixel H;)

So sad, I like the concept very much. Who knew being chenille could give someone such peace as a moment of unpleasantness? Are you going to morph the duck into a violent during the time when the violinist plays the duck? Placing the duck in the violin case is a great touch, it adds even more sincerity to the piece. Great work so far, Iím going to keep an eye open on this one.
