fgdf - thanks :)

DaddyMack - thank you :)

06-27-2007, 12:15 AM
first concept - a bit rough ;) - but I hope you can see what's in it - a guy and his girlie [totally terrified] on a high bicycle... he's speeding - like you could on those things :scream:, she's clinging nervously juggling a goldfish tank while the cat is clatching madly to her dress...]

I do have a few other ideas in my head so I may yet revisit this stage...

oh and call me stupid but how do I put that picture in the minature for my thread?:hmm: - usually it's an attatchement kind of thingie but I can't make one:/

06-27-2007, 01:53 AM
Hey Mag :)

Ouh the highcycle concept could be really funny , and the crazy faces should be a real eye candy with your modelling skills! I hope you're gonna go with that one .

how do I put that picture in the minature for my thread?

In fact you don't have to post any images from your webspace , you have to submit each images in the submit page of the challenge : here ( .And your thread will be automatically updated with the image and its thumbnail ...
Hope it helps

cheers ,

06-27-2007, 01:58 AM (

initial concept :)

06-27-2007, 01:59 AM
Stephane you rule thanks :) ... I am stupid after all :scream:

06-27-2007, 05:47 AM
Stephane you rule thanks :) ... I am stupid after all :scream:

We all do this the first time we did a challenge, don't feel so stupid. :p

06-27-2007, 05:10 PM
Go Go Magda! This is sure to be awesome!

06-27-2007, 05:55 PM
Great start Intervain, i love sort of imagery, everything being awkwardly ballanced and ready to topple leads to great antisipation and excitement. A lively and vibrant concept.

Hi Magdalena,

I have to subscribe to this tread! This concept is really good. I know how you are modeling, so I can't wait to see it coming up :bounce:
Good luck!

06-27-2007, 09:48 PM
lol.. you really communicated instability and frantic energy here... It seriously looks like they're about to come unstuck but somehow they also appear balanced...LYW:applause:

06-29-2007, 03:18 PM
Hello Magda!

I really like the conception!

Good luck & przyjemnego wymiatania!!

06-30-2007, 11:42 AM

06-30-2007, 08:34 PM
hey hows it goin man... giggly concept u got there... this gonna be fun... good luck to u mate...

Man is she. Magdalena is a girl.;)

06-30-2007, 08:48 PM
haha gpepper - thanks! Finally someone actually takes the trouble to check... I practically got used to the man, mate and dude ways of addressing me LOL

Thanks everyone for the kind words about the idea - ehem... as per usal I'm having second thoughts about it and thinking about changing it... I know I have to make up my mind this weekend and stick to it so that's exactly what I mean to do... :)

06-30-2007, 09:45 PM
Loved the idea.... Great animation possibilities going on there!! Looking forward to see your wip :bounce: ... Have fun!!

07-01-2007, 12:24 PM
hehe very funny concept
hope you finish :)

07-01-2007, 10:43 PM (

I revised my idea quite a bit... in line with one of Shakespeare's famous quotes :)

will start modeling next :)

hope you like it...

Felipe - thank you :)
ania - thanks :)

07-01-2007, 11:48 PM
hahaha, I love this idea even more than the last. That will be really fun to do :D

07-02-2007, 12:04 AM
thanks Kieran :) I'm glad you like it!

07-02-2007, 06:12 AM
Wonderful! Both funny and a bit creepy at the same time. Reminds me a bit of a documentary I saw once about middleaged business men paying a lot to become "babies in a nursery"
This can turn out great!

07-02-2007, 11:46 AM
a lollypop in his mouth, and some baloons tied to the back of the bike or to the handlebar is a muss here! :) kiddin', you will see how such details work at the end. I like now concept and wait for some third dimensional stuff :)

07-02-2007, 11:57 AM
:scream: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :scream:

Very good one! That is going to be a very strange picture indeed !
I love this concept

07-02-2007, 09:03 PM (

started medeling :)

I decided to begin with my least fav part - non-organic modeling and do the man's sweet ride ;D ... not finished yet but most of it is ready. Hope you like.

07-02-2007, 09:05 PM
Gunilla - thanks :)

arturro - funny you should say that. I was thinking about giving him some balloons :)

scootermaya - hehe. Thanks a lot :)

07-02-2007, 10:24 PM
great bike. Very clean model.

only crit: maybe the wheels need many more 'spaken'? Don't know the translation, but it's the thin connection between the velg and the center.

Another thought, maybe deform the bike a little as if it has crashed serveral times. Could be fun and a little more interesting. Cheers

07-02-2007, 10:35 PM
yap! more "szprych" (spokes I think is the word) :)
and perhaps add some small balls on those spokes, which gives nice colorful stripes during ride... I mean something like this:

great job so far, superb model.

07-02-2007, 10:45 PM
Thanks guys :) I made so few spokes because those children's bikes have only a few but I also like the idea of more so I'll add some :)

glad you like!

07-03-2007, 07:09 AM
hey, this looks realy cool, i'm anxious to see MOOREEE :D

cheers :bounce:

07-03-2007, 07:23 AM
Monring Magdalena,

Nice tricycle! Very clean.
The paddles are very tiny and close to the axe, aren't they?

07-03-2007, 07:38 AM
hi magdalena :)

i really love your organic modeling, i've see your portfolio and you thread, it's really kick ass :D

your tricycle is also good model :) good luck :) i hope to see more beautiful polysssss here :D

07-03-2007, 07:50 AM
Wow! Love the revision, it is kinda creepy tho:P

That trike is off to a smashing start... This will definitely be one to watch

07-03-2007, 10:12 PM
AndreiSzasz - thanks :)

scootermaya - hmm perhaps you're right... it's a children's bike though so they would be very tiny and I want it to show too, in comparison to the guy's feet :)... we'll see how it works

flaeticia - thanks very much :) - and for visiting my thread/portfolio

DaddyMack - hehe yeah I guess it's a bit creepy :) thanks!

07-04-2007, 08:35 AM
hi Magda, I really like the new idea. :)
The contrast of proportion btw the tiny bike and the old man could be very interesting. visually speaking i mean.

The bike looks really nice so far but i'm agree with the arturro's suggestion tho.

I'm sure it will be a stunning piece of work, best of luck

07-04-2007, 02:07 PM
Very sweet model. Once it has some wear and tear, it's going to have a lot of character! i like the "worst things first" approach you're taking too!

07-05-2007, 04:28 AM
That idea reads a lot more quickly then the one original. I love that you're going for that straw hat and the sailor suit, thats what really takes the image from 'might be someone doing it for a laugh' to 'scary strange'. Well that and the tongue, a look of concentration like that helps a ton :)

Great start on the tricycle. The only thing that pops out about it is: how big is it? The initial sketch has the guy seated semi comfortably with the handle bars uber high -- in the model it looks like a normal tricycle, so he might have some trouble getting his knees under there. That would be with a "child sized tric" interpretation, this definately seems like an area for artist license, just wondered :)

Can't wait to see how this goes, always love following your work :D

07-05-2007, 05:15 AM
Hey Mag :)

This new concept is really great , eventhough I liked the first one too , I think may suit the theme even better !
The modeling already so good , but that's so not a surprise ...

Anyway , juste here for cheering then :)

cheers ,

07-05-2007, 12:03 PM
collings - thanks very much for the support :) I appreciate it!

erilaz - thanks :) Yeah I find that it's best to leave the fun stuff for later so as the deadline gets closer I'll be still enjoying it... Oh if only it were possible to do that with rendering :scream:

kary - thanks, I'm glad you like this one! About the bike - I won't do one of those very tiny trikes... I looked at one yesterday on my way home and darn it's very small, bearly reached my knees even. I'll make it a tad bigger but he still won't be able to fit his knees anywhere LOL I want them sticking out in an awkward way!

Zapan - thank you!

well you'll have to wait for some character modeling till the weekend I'm afraid... not much time over the week now *sigh*
Thanks for all the support guys!

07-05-2007, 03:22 PM
Sweet! I miss doing the 3d stuff sometimes. Great start Magdalena

07-05-2007, 08:46 PM
The second scketch suits better the theme and It's really hard not to smile while you look at it.Good luck.

07-07-2007, 02:24 AM (

Finally got some couple of hours today...

Trying to figure out the proportions using a biped rig as a guide. For now I can't decide whether I want his legs longer or not :) Any opinions are welcome...
I also think I'll make the steering higher up like the concept...
obviously the final pose will be more asymetrical and all... next clothes and body, I'll leave the head for later and work with a proxi for some time... most of the stuff will probably be sculpted.

couldn't resist the balloons, apologies... ;D

07-07-2007, 02:42 AM
i like the balloons :P fun concept!

07-07-2007, 08:06 AM
Hey :)

Just to say that it's gonna be awesome !! The balloons are definitely a great addition !
Perhaps you could make the man a bit bigger to increase the size difference with the tricycle .

Anyway I'm bouncing like nut waiting for your next update

cheers ,

07-07-2007, 08:15 AM
excellent start. Very ipatient to see updates.

07-07-2007, 09:26 AM
I would make the legs much longer, the knees should stick out more, currently he doesn't look so unconvenient on that bike

07-07-2007, 10:44 PM
Very nice idea!
Looking for seeing more!

07-08-2007, 12:22 AM
thanks guys... I've been thinking a lot [as I tend to LOL, probably too much] and I decided to go about it in a more traditional way [meaning default pose/rig/posing]... I don't like it too much but it will give me more freedom [well I hate rigging :scream:]

I'm at the box stage [haven't done much today I fear - too lazy for words] so nothing to show except for some pose experiments with the rig... tell me which one you think best for him - or if you have any others in mind shoot. THNX for all the comments :)

07-08-2007, 02:31 AM
hehehe, very nice idea! It's gonna be very funny to see it animated. These poses are also very nice, specially the last one!

Looking forward the next steps!

07-08-2007, 04:49 AM
Oh my. What a great idea. 1 of the best i'ved seen sofar. very clean models. I have to catch up, your almost done. I just saw your portfolio and I have definitely seen your stuff. I'm really, really impressed.

07-08-2007, 08:21 AM
he does look a bit natural in the pose you submitted... after pondering for a little while, I think it's his knees... if the handlebars were a bit shorter in width then his knees would have more room to be awkward and upward...

07-09-2007, 06:33 PM
I love the idea with this one. The second pose in the blocking image is my favorite, i think it would be just a little bit bettter too if he was hunched right over that handle bar. Exaggerating the speed and the size a little more.
With your talents this will be one heck of a nice piece me thinks. ;)

07-09-2007, 06:59 PM
excellent progress. remin me a little of the excellent short fil called "bingo"

07-09-2007, 10:44 PM
thanks everyone for your kind words and support - especially that I really haven't done much yet *hides in shame*

HUMADAPNON - thanks but I only just begun :D

DaddyMack - you're right about his legs and the handlebars - will work them!

dur23 - good point! and aww thanks very much!

authentic - don't know that film - will make sure to have a look! Thanks!

07-11-2007, 09:08 AM
looks great!

the pose you choose should be the pose that portraits the story you want to tell the most.

to me, the concept pose feels kinda like an old man wanting to live through his childhood one more time before he dies. you feel he is trying even though he barely can't fit that bike.

the other poses makes it feels like an old crazy professional on child-bike riding. like if he never stopped as a kid. might be more funny, but not as emotional.

07-28-2007, 11:07 AM
I like the first pose best. You have a stunning portfolio. Looking forward to seeing this entry progress.
