LC #42 Pipers Alley

View Full Version : combustion:maya and zdepth

I am trying to understand which is the best way to work between maya and combustion. I am specially interested in these 2 next questions:

1- Is there any plug-in to write out maya images with the .RPF format ?

and in case the answer to this first question is "no":

2- Which is the best way to import z-depth information from maya to combustion ?
I have been trying to import an .rla image from Maya to Combustion but I could not make Zdepth to work in Combustion.

Thanks in advance.

try an iff, that has a Z depth channel...

try using maya iff and combustion 2.1...sometimes it works, but only for 3d fog and 3d depth of field, not for layer ordering, like in shake

The 3D layering should work if you have a z-depth channel in the iff. Just ensure that you select the IFF layer in combustion. Go to the Layer menu in the composite controls and turn on "3D Depth". You then need to adjust the Z-depth Scale and offset sliders to match combustions Z-depth to the IFF file.
