Hey BishopLynx, DKScully!!
Heya Mandrake, nice to meet ya. Thanks for the kind comment :)

Lately I've been kicking around this one idea.....
The camera shot is coming from just overtop of a tv, focusing on these two kids sitting on a couch in the living room.

It involves two characters playing this one INTENSE video game.
They're both really into the game by now.. Judging by the look in their eyes they're probably running on 3 hrs of sleep each .... when one of them(Villain) says " Now! NOW, I will show you my power!" as he's looking over to his friend.
Just then, his friend drops his control and raises his hands to the air in victory. Bewildered the trash talkin(Villain) friend looks back at the tv/video game and sees his friend has won.. Pissed off that he waited too long to use his power, he then........

The ending has to be something spontaneous like...him wacking his friend so hard he flys over the back of the couch or something like that ,then quietly rubbing his hands together scheming up another plan or looking for another game to challenge his buddy.
Or perhaps having the Villian break down in tears and the good guy/hero comforting him.. I'm still playing around with it as you can see. C&C always welcome:wavey:

Second story....
There's this Villain, starved for attention , all he wants is to be recognized by the evil community. He heads to a place where they're hiring villains, except the bouncer won't let him in until he shows proof that he's a capable villain.
From then on let the hilarity ensue.

Well I'm going with the second story.
Here's my bouncer :scream:
The face needs to be polished up, but overall this is how he's going to look.

Hi Guys, meet Lefty. He's an extra(Another Villain applying), so if I have time I'll throw him in the animation as well.
Time to animate? :)

Hi guys,
Here's my animatic. I've gone ahead and started inbetweening the bouncer and smoothing his animation out.
The way I started this scene was I used the bouncer as a primary to time the scene, using only main key poses. I then animated "Lefty" coming on-screen to match the bouncer's timing. And lastly, Frick's key poses were keyed in.
These are just playblasts, sorry for the poor quality.
Animation removed...

Dang Dude! Thats sweet! I love the idea of a gorilla bouncer.:applause:

Kepp it coming!

C&C always welcome...

I dunno about that building's eye's in the background, looks kinda od.... but other than looks great! keep it coming.

04 April 2003, 12:49 PM
Hey Steven,
Love the style like allways....makes me feel so ACME :D

Only crit is that the shadows could be darker. During night there is no global light (sun) which could make them lighter. Especially the barrier looks very plane because of the lack of shadows IMO.

Keep it up

TerrestrialSea: That's ok.. I kinda like the eyes. It is odd tho, I'll give ya that :)
Milho: Hey, I think your right about the shadows. I turned down the ambient lighting, almost next to 0. Then I cranked up some of the lighting. Here's what I got.

04 April 2003, 09:26 PM
totally cool stuff...

Now show us Animation Mr Vyas! Please!!! ;)

Thanks for all the encouragement guys! This challenge has been a lot of fun to compete in. Here's what I have so far.
Animation (Quicktime)
Animation(Divx 5.0.3)

This week I'll be working on the lipsync for Frick, and facial animation for each characer.

Looks grand Stephen, couple o things I would like to mention tho...that light coming from the lamp post still seems a bit to strong, looking at the little dragons back it looks far too illuminated and perhaps the shadows a bit too strong. other thing that doesnt seem to fit with the nice cartoon feeling is the type face u used on the signs, think something like you used at the bottom left with your name would work much better in my view...just a thought.

Gru: Regarding the lighting, thanks for pointing that out. I've lowered the diffused shader for the back of the dragon and on the face of Lefty, which seems to have made it look half decent. The fonts will definately be changed, I'll try to find some suiting fonts in a few days from, once I finish up the animation. :) As for the shadows, I'll keep playing with them. :)

Looking really good... my kid thought it was some kind of new promo for a show

Looks great Steven! I love your character design. The dragon character is great. It would be nice to see a high res textured version of him.

GL dude...! You get my vote...!

Thanks Rhonedog, it always feels good to hear that. :)
I'm not much of a texture artist, but maybe I'll take a crack at it now that we have a short break from these animation challenges.
Good luck with your character as well, he looks like he'll do well in the votes.

05 May 2003, 05:59 PM
Hey Steve! Been a while since I've browsed the forums. Looks really good man. I really like the style of the whole thing. It all works well together. About the only suggestion I could make, and I'm not sure if the rules permit it, but it'd be nice to have some camera shake when the dragon hits the door. Something to make it seem like more an 'event'....some more umph.

Looks great man. I'm really digging it.

05 May 2003, 09:26 PM
Hey James! Good to hear from ya. Hopefully we'll see you in the next challenge, right? :)
Yeah the camera shake sounds like a good idea, once the voting is done I'll throw an update to my site.

P.s. What've you been up to?

05 May 2003, 09:33 PM
I hope I get the chance to enter the next challenge. Life's been working me overtime. It's clearing up a bit though and I'm looking forward to getting some of own time back for things I want to do. It's good to find some time to browse the forums again.

Again, great job with the animation.
