I've learned that high price doesn't mean quality.. i got the fluid effects DVD from alias.. shows LOTS of stuff, tells LITTLE of how to actually do it. Although I shoulda known since its a siggraph presentation and not an actual tutorial .. but still, tell me how to do SOMEthing!

i think its cheaper too just figure it out yourself, fer rendering its sure seems not as hard to be good at it over time becuz the results are rather identifiable. and i do agree expensive dont mean quality. Also there was a rendering tutorial included for maya's built in renderer in one of the past issues of 3d world
i recommand getting that tut and then try applying it on mental ray along with a dose of trial an error

awwwww, i just received this mental ray dvd,
Shipment fedex=27$
canadian taxes=30$

total=186$ us!!!!!!! and for what??? 1h55m09sec of global, not in depht overview of MR for maya! whaaaat!! this is the kind of thing that make me feel bad!
this is the last time i'm buying an alias learning tool, if you need something to lear more about MR, just buy the rendering with mental ray book (This book at amazon) (
