I am at my very first steps with softimage's xsi and to be totally honest, i still use maya for most of the texturing but this is due to the reason of this post.... the moddeling part of xsi is a beauty but i do not have much experience in texturing in xsi and (this might sound a little stupid but it is true...) evem though i know how to use a great part of the render tree menu, i still dont know hoe to insert a bump map without using the default difuse color's bump map .....:( i know it sounds stupid but if anyone could help me, i would appreciate it.... having said that, I love the program in general and the 2nd edition (the one i am using) is just perfect.... i might post some of my works in the future for comments.... Thanks in advance.....

I've got quite a few bump mapping tutorials on my site in the Materials and Texturing section.
This should get you going....

There is a lot more where that came from....

Hope this helps.

you should order the experience cd. it has a very good video on texturing a character using the uv editor. ( which is very powerful. ) the video is 10 minutes long and the guy textures a whole character in that time. using multiple projections, etc.
