View Full Version : mia_physicalsky haze mapping (clouds)

06-14-2007, 03:58 AM
I mapped an image of clouds to the haze parameter of mia_physicalsky via the maya envSphere node. The clouds look great, but there are artifacts around my foreground objects that appear when I turn on final-gather.

No final gather:http://www.djx.com.au/blog/wp-content/images/miaPhysicalSky/miaPhysicalSkyHaze_noFG.jpg
And with final gather turned on:http://www.djx.com.au/blog/wp-content/images/miaPhysicalSky/miaPhysicalSkyHaze_withFG.jpg
That stipple artifact you see seems to surround the foreground objects like a kind of 2d bounding box.

Does anybody know what would be causing this?

I tried increasing samples etc, but with no success.

I have tried using mib_lookup_spherical instead of envSphere and the problem seems to go away - but then I have another problem - I dont know how to hook up mib_lookup_spherical so that the texture projection is correct.

Try to map a a single maya file texture, with a Black and white Hdr clouds image and connect the outalpha to the Haze.

octane52, thankyou .

No spherical env required! So much easier than what I was trying too.
