I'm Going to Model Commander Bly.
If I can I may add more stuff to my scene.

Firstly, I think nurbs and curves would have been a better choice for building this. Since you chose polygons (which isn't a horrible way to approch this, but can create artifacts easier when sub-d or smoothed for inorganic objects) there's an extremely high poly count at the phase you're at. More importantly, you have an n-gon of 9 sides BIG NO NO! I would suggest rebuilding this with a proxy so you have a better idea of how many divisions you'll be needing for each piece or section of the helmet and then also keep your divisions uniform throughout. There's too many terminating verticies.

For a good nurbs tutorial video, go to The Area, autodesk/alias' tutorial website and look for the modeling tutorial call helmet and goggles. If you're not a memeber, just join, it's free and you get access to tons of junk.

you are absolutly right.
I'm working on the back of the helmet and soon I'm going to edit/change all of those n-gons to quads.I guess I'm going to check the site for the tutorial. maybe this time I can start working with nurbs.
polygons are always easier for me and that's why I started working with polygons. I hope I can post some pictures very soon.

I would have to agree with Firerbert, you've gone too high poly too fast. I always like to have one side low poly with a flipped smooth proxy on the other side.

Block out the whole body fast, then go back and and bring up the details stage by stage ensuring that it all works together.
It's like how you would approach a drawing; a quick sketch of the whole image you plan to make.

well, I have a very simple object that I use as a guide.
because Clone troopers have the nature of robots and they have different parts and armors and ...., I thought it's better to make the parts first then put the parts in the place, then
make the last part which is the body.
when I'm working, I work just on half of the helmet and this helmet I posted is just to see
how it's look like so far.
I'm going to post my grey block very soon.
