I am in the prosess of modeling a hourglass, and now I am starting to do the sand falling in the lower dome. I use the multistreak particle type and are rendering it with hardware render just fine. But the thing is, I want to render the hourglass in Mental Ray which cannot render hardware particles. So I am told to render it in the hardware buffer render and then compose it in a composing program. I don't own a composer program, but I am using premiere pro. Is that enough?
So, I render it with the settings as described, but then it render the transparent glass along with the particles. How can I stop it? If I hide the glass it appear fake when I combine it in premiere. How can I make a descent looking particle render behind a transparent material?
And have you any idea of how I can make the sand build up realisticly?
