03 March 2003, 04:32 PM

Beautifully rendered image and adorable face. The rollers in her hair are a very nice touch.
Too bad I got turned off to the image by the akward sitting pose which seems to do nothing for the image but emphasise the "crotch shot". From the breasts upward, it's obvious that you can illustrate an appealing image without having to over use her sexuality to hook the viewer. That's my aesthetic opinion of the piece and I'm sure others won't agree with it.
Technically speaking though, you could work on the foreshortening of her legs to take advantage of the perspective there. To me her legs don't seem to extended away from her body. Rather, they look very flat and is if they only extend less than 6 inches away from her torso. Her foot should be much larger in this view if it were closer to the viewer.

thanx for the tip bout foreshortening..
but i dont understand y u r turned off though..
imo, her provocative posture speaks about her character n personality:hmm:
03 March 2003, 08:08 PM
can't see the image, red x.
03 March 2003, 11:33 PM
Kirt: I totally agree with you about the overuse of sensuality. I loved her face, and how her breasts were just barely covered. It speaks to me of a comfortableness with her body. The crotch shot though puts me in mind of pornography or something. It just seems to clash a little bit.
Anyways... I can't go back and look at the image again because your site's down. Otherwise I'd have some better comments.
My thoughts. I like lots of things about it, but the crotch shot kinda spoils it for me.

sorry bout my unaccessible website.
i have edited the post wif a viewable pic.
thanx for your valuable c & c!

Well kunkka ... what I meant was that there are ways to portray the provocative nature of the character without having to put the crotch into the face of the viewer (the yellow amplifies this BTW). It seems that you went for the obvious on this one and it could have been equally (or more so) provocative by not drawing the viewers attention to this.
In my opinion the mystery and sensuality of a woman is better portrayed by not sticking it in your face ... so to speak. The alure of a woman does come across better with a flirtatious pose or one that only hints to what she has to tempt you.
Of course that may just be a matter of opinion. I find women more attractive when they are scantily clothed rather than completely naked. Hell, I've even seen a few women wrapped in winter clothing that exuded sensuality. :D
It's still a nice image and your skills are very apparent in this one.

TERRADA RULES! Your work looks much like his. I saw him last year at the San Diego COMIC CON. He had a cold tho...:surprised
Just love his work... and your's too!!!:applause:
03 March 2003, 11:15 AM
:shrug:oh... and don't mind the puritanical bent of many of the post's here... we Americans tend to be uptight when it comes to sexuality.
03 March 2003, 12:02 PM
u actually saw him in person???
03 March 2003, 01:03 PM
Nice image, I like her furry legs.
03 March 2003, 01:15 AM
Wow this is cool, like I said in your other post you have a great art style. Gotta search the web, I'm curious to find out what this terra culture and Terrada is about.
03 March 2003, 10:15 PM
Hehe... How cute... -.-' ^^
03 March 2003, 04:02 AM
Hey, great rendering and concept! I love the little details, like the rollers in her hair and the jewelry. However, I think the crotch shot is a bit obvious and a little cliche(and I'm not the least bit puritanical in my views:rolleyes: ) But to each his own. Frankly, I find the overgrown toe nails more perturbing:surprised
Also, I'm not exactly sure how to read that yellow/orange shape on her foot. Is it supposed to be a tattoo?
Hope to see more work from you!:airguitar
03 March 2003, 04:55 AM
she's supposed to have claws, but i just did nails..
(not human anyway..)
that's a japanese alphabet
but i read it as a "k"
check out my other thread here.

I'm sorry for diggin it up again, you left a link a thread and i thought it imporant enough to post.
Your piece is pretty good, accept I would have liked to seen no shorts but the non shaved lag crossed over and under the leg she's shaving so as to hide it. That way you got your self a flirtious tease without overdoing it, which sadly You have (i'm not even american).

im seeing a trend here with the western countries..
u guys can't seem to stand blatant erotism directly in ur face.
is it because of your developed sex industry
(too much of a good thing?)
i think my brand of erotism derives from the country of japan,
(japanese comic culture influenced me a lot..)
thanx for digging my style though :bounce:

I'm sorry that I posess morals and values, I don't believe women are an Item which should be used for their sexual abilities. That is something I've seen alot in Eastern Cultures (look at all the diffren ways its done, headcoverings from head to foot, the use of sex in Japanese comics and other such things). Western Culture sees women as equals and thus tries not to use them as objects, certian things such as rap music videos and that whole attitude is very much useing them as objects, but for the most part its not how it is. Your right Western Cultures are up tight about that, but you see a diffrence here from Countries like china. In china a woman must submit completly to a man and if you tried that in lets say Canada, she would prolly beat the crap out of him. Western Women have fought for their rights and as guy brought up to Respect Women as people not as objects I will not trample over them and treat them as sexual objects... Plus I find it more Appealing when you can't see what they are flirting instead of having it shoved in my face, the latter makes me feel sick.
04 April 2003, 08:54 PM
OMG.. you are actually turning a piece of fantastic craftmanship into a moral discussion. Drop it dude! :)
I LOVE the way she teases you with the foot and stuff! Great work.. NO, Excellent work! :applause:
I think an artist should take the advantage to create what he wants and use the freedom of art! So drop the moral stuff, it's great to get your opinion, but saying "it's wrong" is completley out of subject! :>
04 April 2003, 10:52 PM
it IS wrong, sorry thar IS a right and wrong, HOwever I do thing hte craftmens ship is amazing.
04 April 2003, 11:04 PM

lots of details too, I totally agree with cgMonkey.
btw is that a zipper i see?? (ouch~)
04 April 2003, 01:26 AM
to bitmap: whoa, hold ur reins buddy! of course i respect women, n your opinion of the eastern countries is very much outdated already :)
so be rest assured.
this is just a fun piece of artwrk, not to degrade them or anything.
bsides, i feel she's the one in control of the situation here!
i say, be like the HORNED GOD!!
04 April 2003, 02:42 AM
bitmap, no offense dude, but you really
need to relax. there's nothing even
remotely derogatory in this image.
in fact, it's amazing.
kunkka, i'm in love.

Been lurking for a bit, but had to post since I love terada..nice image..cool to see more people into the 'terada style'..second the 'killer stuff on your site' comment as well.
I wish I had known he was at comic con last year, I would have gone, it's only like an hour from here..sigh.
For a good intro for anyone looking into Terada, just look for "Rakuga King". It's a big thick collection of a tiny portion of the insane number of sketches he's done over the years, and one of the most mindblowing art books I've seen. Though there is a lot of stuff that would be dubbed 'overly risque' in there, can go through it again and again and still find new things and inspiration. I'd even go so far as to say I like it way better than Zenbu or his other 'full color' works.
P.S. Still trying to track down a copy of his "Cover Girls", if anyone knows a good place :D
04 April 2003, 03:30 AM
what's your login on devart?
i'll add you to my watch...
the sketch is beautiful kunkka.
04 April 2003, 01:44 PM

regarding his books, u can order thru the net from terra's personal website.
man, i wish i cld be at the comic con too. though its a 24hr journey frm here....:annoyed:

Terrada was at the Con', and he was terribly SICK! But yet he still SHOWED UP all the way from Japan!!! Funny thing is, I was 4th in line... 3 older Japanese men in front of me, and Terra started drawing complete characters on these guy's posters! So, I'm all excited... just then a helper said to Terrada, "You should just do a small one. There are too many people in line."
I didn't complain. I had my poster signed and he did a quick side view of a chick.
I did find out that later that week he was going to appear at a comicbook store on Sunset Ave in Hollywood (http://www.meltcomics.com/). I drove like mad to get there in time, but it had ended. I got there with all my Terrada books... but it was over. The guy at the front said he was in the back about to leave. Just then, the MAN HIMSELF came out from the back and signed my books and drew a huge face of the MONKEY KING (?) on one of them.
The guy is one of the nicest, most giving artists I have met. (others are BROM, YASUSHI NIRASAWA, Hajime Sorayama , and Brian Froud... they are all reeeealy nice and have all been to the Comic Con in San Diego!)
04 April 2003, 08:53 AM
Oh, By the way, kunnka... your 'Uber biatch' painting is AWESOME!

I'm really impressed with your artwork, keep up the goodwork and I'll be visiting your site on a regular basis. The only thing I have to say is change the layout of your page just a bit. I kept clicking on the same pictures over and over again. That's just my stupidity though.
