View Full Version : Question: Maya Dynamics: Rigid Bodies

03 March 2003, 03:04 AM

I'm trying to pile coke cans on top of each other. They are all active rigid bodies, because I'm gonna toss a ball into the cans and I figured I'll let Maya do the animation for me.

Now to my problem. The coke cans just won't be still. They all have "static friction" set to 5, which seems to give the best result... but still, they all move too much (they are supposed to be not moving at all until the ball hits them).

Any tips or suggestions?
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Do it in 2 parts;

First part all the cans are have no dynamic's and just have the ball flying towards it.

Then do the animation again with all the dynamic's and render that out.

Now just stich em together in premier or something.

your could also make a seperate gravity for the cans, then just switch the gravity on one frame before the balls hits them.

Ah, thanks... that was a good tip. I'll try using different gravity fields.
