View Full Version : Rendering Issues with Masks

Have have found a couple of problems when rendering out when trying to use masks

1. Hairline areas where a mask has been applied are still visable.

I have set up the masks in a layered texture as shown and using the the Multiply Blend mode to turn the masks on and off.

The masks themselves are RGB .tga files... I also made sure that the masks completely cover the relevant UV areas and dont just go upto the edge.

Its all set up as one peice of geometry and I rendering out with maya software.

2. The masked areas casting shadows.
I can go and turn off Cast Shadows in render stats but thats what I dont want to achieve. I want shadows but just not from masked objects.

As you can see in the view portthe hood is masked out but in the render view it still casts a shadow.... Also notice the hairlines along the edges of the masked area.

Any help would be much appriciated.

Come guys.... I cant be the only one who has experienced this problem with the masks.
