The render with scenery looks really good. If I should put my finger on something, it would be the way her arms flex. Doesn't go over quite well IMO.

Other than that it looks splendid :bounce:

03 March 2003, 05:46 PM
really nice. looks very fluid and the model is very efficient. nice hair too.
I have to agree on the arms though. the way they fold is a bit odd.
still, beautiful model.

03 March 2003, 05:56 PM
thanks a lot for all your nice comments.

I absolutely have to agree, regarding the arm issue. The render is from a test sequence and amy`s body wasnt finished yet, as we can see :)
I forgott to mention that.

anyway , its the only rendered sequence with Amy, so I wanted to share it.

03 March 2003, 05:57 PM
very nice model i like it a lot. it would be sweet to see this one animated.

Looks very good........hurry up and finish your website! :D :)

03 March 2003, 11:02 PM
Oh Boy...wireframe, shaded and render is my favorite CGI Images right now. And the character is really cute. What happened that the project was shut down? I wish it didn't happened, maybe it could be a very interesting movie.

03 March 2003, 11:31 PM
thats so freaky impressive man ~'''' if i look at my work after watching urs i get really sick@.@

03 March 2003, 11:33 PM
reminds me of a young alice from 'American McGees Alice'

Its a awesome model. I just love it!

03 March 2003, 11:48 PM
A good friend of mine worked on that project at TripleE with you guys, Noah Peterson. He showed me some of the work after the project shut down...WOW! All I could say was wow!. The scenes were magnificant. The witch, boy and girl are all awesome. The animation that Andy accomplished was impressive as well. It sucks that the project went under because it looked very promising and I was close to coming over there as well had the project continued. You have a great talent there and the girl rocks. Peace.

p.s. Noah showed me this video of the guy that came to work naked because noone beleived that he would. Funny Stuff. Laughed my ass off.:airguitar

03 March 2003, 11:50 PM
I really love the hair...makes me want to open Maya and model some myself. Good flow. Nice work.

03 March 2003, 12:01 AM
I really like the model. The flowery render looks like something out of Shrek.

03 March 2003, 12:05 AM
Great work, the modeling is very clean. Very nice with the modeled hair. She does appear to have a lot of life, too bad the project was killed.

03 March 2003, 12:22 AM
very childish - very innocent - very good !!

03 March 2003, 01:13 AM
wow great work!

So cute!

03 March 2003, 01:56 AM
Wow, everything is quite amazing, the proportions, the texture, and the hair. Especially the hair since you chose to model it
Superb work

03 March 2003, 01:57 AM

03 March 2003, 04:23 AM

Do you have any animated samples?

Great work, can't wait to see more:buttrock:

03 March 2003, 04:50 AM
she looks pretty she would bite your head off if you said one thing wrong with her...

good job.

03 March 2003, 05:01 AM
Like Bishop, I am friends with Noah and saw some of the work. As I watched it, I was definately in awe at the look of it all. WONDERFUL job to all of you. I really liked the little girl. She was definately my favorite out of the group of them. Awesome job. Though I, however, didn't see the footage of the naked co-worker...not sure I want to. :) Great job.

03 March 2003, 05:48 AM
i love the look she has in the render great pose and great model

03 March 2003, 06:21 AM

03 March 2003, 06:29 AM
Astonishing! Great style, lovely execution and just overall excellent. I dig the render, been a fan of these types of renders since Anibyte's days. I have to ask how long did it take to render this with Maya? and is it the native renderer?

Please send me a larger image for the gallery

thanks so much for all your replys guys ! ... I really appreciate it.

@trevlb > I started with a cube , sculpted the rough shape and started adding lines and detail. It was a very exciting day to model the hair ....especially when I had to do hair for all the other characters, too.

@Jozvex & jah > yes, It`s a still from my demoReel. I`ll post some anims (done by some great coworkers) soon.

@xynaria > I will ....I will try to do ... soon

@Pinionist >It was shut down because of money issues .... that was my 2nd project in a row, that was shut down after 6-9 month of production. that`s germany :)

@BishopLynx > thanks. hehe ...the naked animator ...that`s david. he`s an awesome character and a good friend. He`s just amazing and I enjoyed working with him very much.

@xtrm3d > merci beaucoup, christophe. The project was called `tamanana`. There are some rumors but thats just rumors. thanks for your comment.

@lildragon > WOW !!!! thanks a lot dude ! You made my day .... my own CGtalk award :)
Rendering this character didnt took too long, though I cant remember certain numbers. Its all done in maya :)
I`ll send you a larger picture right away.

as I told you, the production stopped after some month, so I dont have much footage of Amy to show.
Anyway, here is another wire and a picture of her brother , Lucas (he`s a little fatty).
I`m just rendering for my demoReel , so I`ll post all the characters I did soon.
thanks again,

03 March 2003, 12:04 PM
wow thats a beautiful style you have there, very inspiring!

03 March 2003, 12:25 PM
F*cking good.

Great style, sweet proportions, pretty clean geometry...

Only one comment, the drappery looks too flat, i think it needs more wrinkles .

PLEASE a bigger shot of the girl!!!!!! :wip:

03 March 2003, 12:27 PM
oh, i forgot it, the other character of is just awesome, superb poses :applause:

03 March 2003, 03:09 PM
She really has got a character. Well done:applause: Environment is beautiful too.

03 March 2003, 04:38 PM
wow, great charcterdesign and modelling.
i just thought, that triple e was working on a tv series, not on a feature film. it`s a pity to see those projects being cancelled.

03 March 2003, 05:04 PM
Great character!!!
Reminds a bit of one of the central characters I'm working on at the moment:
(either I'm working too hard, or great minds think alike....!)
Check the render on my site at:

Sorry to hear your project was aborted, BTW, and congrats on your award!

03 March 2003, 09:24 AM
Looks very good dude!
I like the style.
Maybe 1 crit. :
On the colored picture of the girl, the arm-bending need a second look. Also the arms look a bit plastic. But....great stuff!!
Also love that chubby guy! hehe :airguitar

03 March 2003, 05:36 AM

04 April 2003, 07:38 PM
Beautifully modelled and stylised yet again, Flo; just as I've come to expect of you...Well done!
Excellently executed wires also

04 April 2003, 07:56 PM
New models.....

04 April 2003, 08:21 PM
This is truly impressive and inspiring.. How did you the model the strands of hair, with a tedious 1 by 1 process or a magic script etc? I really wonder!

Excellent work..

04 April 2003, 06:03 PM
:applause: wow, I really like your models, between realism and cartoon. Good job!

04 April 2003, 07:22 PM
beautiful works.......... lookin' good

04 April 2003, 09:21 PM
Just AWESOME, I love your cartoon style, very fluid and rounded, just splendide, I wish I could do that ( I'm just an amateur, modeling just for fun ).
Just One thing, the fatty boy, looks like a lot of a character in "Tom Sawyer" anime cartoon, dont know if you know who am i pointing to ;) .
Haven't found a picture of the character, but the anime was this one :)

Good work and keep going on

04 April 2003, 10:16 AM
Incredible work, your model are soo good,
very neat, and the geometry is really well handled...
I wonder waht modelling method did you use?
Box modelling ? Did you use drawingd for references then some splines? Maybe edge extending ? With or without drawings?
already thx a lot,
and don't forget to post new pictures, or to say here when your demoreel will be online ;)

04 April 2003, 10:33 AM
Great style. All of the characters.
Very harmonic. Everything fits together.

A "Prost" from me on that.

04 April 2003, 11:42 AM
Stunning characters Flo. You have an amazing eye for expression.

If you wrote a tutorial on the man with the raised eye-brow, that would be brilliant.:D

Vash T Stampede
04 April 2003, 11:45 AM
Excellent! Now give her a knife! :scream:

04 April 2003, 01:00 AM
when i see work this well done, i become conflicted. i don't know if i should be really inspired that such great work can be done, or throw my computer out the window after looking at my own work. really great job.

04 April 2003, 06:48 AM
I love the expression she had on the second picture you post :)

Very Cute

04 April 2003, 11:31 AM
wow...the thread came up again :)
thanks again for all thoses nice words !
ok, so here are a few more pictures. This time its mostly background characters and some render pix.
My part was doing the modeling (and setup on some of them).

@atwooki : thanks ! nice dog by the way. the scooby style is very cool !
@hesido : Indeed, it was a painfull process. I inserted lines of polys and tweaked them to hair. but all in all it was very boring to do...
@virtual_francky: hey, great comparison. The fat boy`s character is kind of similar to tom sawyer.
@ryu: yeah modeling. maybe a combination. About the reel : I cant put it online, as I dont have unlimited trafiic on my site..but Ill find a solution. Though Im already doing a new one for 2003.
@erilaz: long time ago i built this guy. But Ill try to do some kind of tutorial soon. if you really want it .... :)
@Vash T Stampede: good one ... nice idea :)
@Michel ROGER : thanks michel !

04 April 2003, 11:45 AM
Hey buddy, would it be possible for you to re-render these images so you can enter them in Expose? Would be very cool

love the new ones, how in the world do you make the Maya renderer behave like that? :)

04 April 2003, 11:51 AM
hey tito,

thanks dude !
the re-rendering could be a problem, as the production was stopped and the company closed. Thats why I have such few textured-renders to show.
I can only rerender the models without textures :hmm:

about the renderer...
seems like the texture/light and compositing people did a good job :)

thanks !

04 April 2003, 02:55 PM
Lovely expression on the girl with the horn-rimmed glasses, Flo; very disdainful:

Great stuff :)!

04 April 2003, 03:16 PM
Great character designs!!!

congrats!

Umm Yeah .... i really want a tutorial :bounce:

that would be awsome

You have amazing skill; you can come up with brilliantly modeled characters every time :applause:

04 April 2003, 07:10 PM
the lighting and texturing is awesome :)
and the style of the little girl is very manga, big eyes and small mouth.
but the rest of the characters looks like american cartoons.
would love to see the little girl celshaded though :D

04 April 2003, 10:42 PM
truly inspiring work here my friend. nothing bad to say at all about these pieces. for some reason they do remind me of shrek. :)

04 April 2003, 11:05 PM
beautifull!!!!!! I love the ambiance in the farm!!! I L.O.V.E. IT!

what did you do to make this blury and soft touch in the farm?

04 April 2003, 06:13 AM
Your characters have great ... character! Wonderful!

04 April 2003, 12:30 PM
awosem .. :)

Excellent, really good:applause:

04 April 2003, 06:46 PM
amazing :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
when you use poly modeling in Maya, do you start with a box or do you do it point by point ?? thanks !!

04 April 2003, 07:11 PM
just lovely:)

It would be such a shame if this production never got finished - I'd love to see it.

The Gunslinger
04 April 2003, 07:39 PM
Hmmm, that girl with the hornrim glasses... one crit, her hair looks a little chunky. Just kidding :)

Wow, I can't offer any crits that haven't been mentioned already (or that aren't stupid jokes) so I'll just be redundant and tell you how great the models are ;) Seriously, very good job and I hope your next production has better luck... As others have said, it's a shame to see an apparently good production get cut off :( At any rate, is there any way you could clue us in on some of the story...? I would kind of like to know what it's about since I'll never get to see it... The renders you've shared have really peaked my interest. So far as I can gather it's about a little girl, her brother, magic and another girl who the conflict would be based around most likely... [/obvious]

04 April 2003, 08:45 PM
Great looking characters.:bounce:

04 April 2003, 09:24 PM
Nice ambiant feel, good characters.Just all in all wonderful art.

04 April 2003, 05:35 AM
you mentioned that you later decided to use
paint effects for the 1st girl's hair.

could you tell us about that?

04 April 2003, 05:48 AM
very beautiful !

05 May 2003, 12:45 AM

Really reaaaally liked Amy

05 May 2003, 03:21 PM
