View Full Version : Any idea about the cost of a Blur animated short? Gopher..?

Could anyone venture a guess at how much a short film like Blur's "Gopher Broke" would cost?

This is not including the writing of the script...but the production beginning with a finished script. This would include storyboards and character design (all the pre-production) and the modeling, rigging, lighting, animating?

I'm not looking for the specifics in pricing for each part, but a guesstimate ballpark price to do it.

Thanks for any ventured guesses? I am aware that there are variables.

30K easily. Most likely more. Pre-production concept art, model sheets, character and asset models, riggs, animation, environment, lighting, rendering, software liscence, rendering liscence, computers & other hardware, studio rental fees and property taxes.

But that's just a guess.

Thanks for the response Bigmouth. I was thinking it would be up around $200 to $300,000. or higher.

I'd say it probably is. It's not cheap :)

since the work was internal (at east i think it was) then it wudnt be as much but if you hired a company to make a short to the quality of gopher broke, a sundance film fesstival winner, I would say at least 150,000 ($300,000). I guess this from rates i know a company in my area charges for certain kind of jobs. but like i said its internal so i dunno. gopher broke is an excellent short.

Sorry, I meant to put '300k', not '30K'. Missed a zero.
