I am proud to say i am a new member and wanting to get right on into the software. The only problem is theres so many buttons i don't know how to use it all. i don't expect to learn the whole software right off the bat. But if you people could help teach me the ropes and basics im sure i can start off nicely. And not be so scared of the software... I must say i never seen so many buttons you can pick from in my life!

The trick is to start very very simple, and then work your way up.
Begin by pressing the SPACEBAR in the 3D view, and see what can be done from that menu only. Learn how to grab (G-key) a vertice by first going into EDIT mode with the TAB-key.
Thats how I started. Then slowly start to expirement by reading certain tutorials, whatever takes your fancy really and do more and more, and before you know it you are an expert :)

You might try the video tutorials on the Blender site:
...and for reference you can search the wiki:

Don't get intimidated by the buttons. There are only a couple of buttons that you should check out. You should know how to switch between edit mode and object mode (Tab key).
Space bar: very essential!
other fun functions: K , W,
G(rab) , S(scale) , R(otate).
U(ndo) - Shift+U = Redo
With the knowledge above, you should be ably to model almost anything, FAST.

As Secundar said - the blender.org tutes, but particularly the GETTING STARTED ones:
I spent about an hour and a half on those, best time spent - I reckon you do the same and you will be well on your way.
Also - after these, Greybeards Sub Division tute vid:
Then when you are well up try Jonathans face tute video:
Two tutes here - one for face and then the ear. You will learn alot from this one.
Join up to this forum if you have not already - all answers here :)
Have a look at the tutorials thread.

i suggest every thing posted above -=)
start of in steps dont go poking around all over.
after you learn the Navagation learn the Mesh editing butttons (F9)
then the Materials (F5) then Render (F10) Dont learn all the render buttons right now just learn that the one marked "Render" renders...lol cause the other will really trow u off like it did me. make simple stuff try to just use boxes cylinders and so on maybe make a Skateboard that should be simple. Also when your bored and dont feel like doing any thing just page around the Wiki Docs and the Blender site. Happy Blending
