Hey there Kravenous. You have a really strong sense of structure. Wonderful designs. Really like your stuff alot.
11-11-2007, 11:45 PM
your design looks solid. great stuff. do you have any plans doing them in 3d? they got a nice look that would transfer well.
11-18-2007, 05:35 PM
Just wanted to do a creature
Slisko: thanks man!
nullNode1 : If one of these sketches are really strong than I definitely would develop
it in 3D, I love seeing maquettes they make for animation movies. Right now I want to
focus on drawing and creating as I model 3D for my 9 to 5.
11-18-2007, 06:15 PM
maaaaan i'm loving this stuff keep posting
11-23-2007, 07:15 PM
That boxing Hog is fabulous! It's brilliant in it's simplicity of lines and the airbrushing gives it a whole ... well, I don't know what you call it, but those pictures you find on World War I planes and such. Or one of those tin, commercial plates. I definately would want one!
11-24-2007, 09:27 AM
these are great! i'm curious, do you have background in graf / aerosol art?
11-29-2007, 07:23 AM
Just trying something different. I lightboxed this one on comic paper and worked at a larger size than I normally do. Learned alot and that's what counts. Right? LOL
Elmarq: No I don't but I'm influenced by some comic guys who might.
11-29-2007, 10:44 AM
Yep..you got style...
12-02-2007, 08:08 AM

Great use of shapes and expressions of a character, nice work!
02-11-2008, 09:34 PM
Very appealing work, i'm amazed at your use of different shapes in creating the characters. It looks like you might have some J Scott Campbell influence in the way you approach females. Again, very very nice linework, eye CANDY!
02-12-2008, 03:17 PM
i really like this character, and the face also attract me,good job
02-12-2008, 10:21 PM

03-06-2008, 09:53 AM
Your style is awesome, I have to admit I am pretty envious. I do have to ask you, do you use any referencing when you are creating these characters AND where do you get your inspiration from?
03-10-2008, 04:35 PM
03-12-2008, 05:00 AM
I really love your line art. And great characters designs!

03-13-2008, 06:07 AM
I call this one an inner city orc
03-30-2008, 06:40 PM
I wanted to clean this one up and colour it in a kind of flat animated style
03-31-2008, 02:40 PM
Nice color job on that biker, i'm glad you choose this one in particular, it was my favorite of the last few. Now if you could animate him wouldn't that be something!! Do you ever dabble in animation Krave?
04-01-2008, 05:58 AM

04-01-2008, 08:11 AM

you get a lot of work freelance?
Amazing stuff! Keep up the good work.
04-05-2008, 04:59 AM
Trying a design and exploration in some Painting techniques.
fairly happy with it, realized 80 percent of the way through it that the head was to big. fixed with a patch job. oh well
thanks for the comments people means alot!!
redfrog: Sorry to mislead you I am not a character designer, I have worked in the gaming industry mostly as a Character modeler and texture artist. I am currently looking to change things where I can desigin and use my drawing skills. I originally put it there as wishful thinking trying to believe I can do it. Kinda like when Jim Carey wrote himself a check for 10 million dollars and then one day the movie industry was really writing Jim checks for that much and more....
04-05-2008, 09:14 AM

Speaking as an art director of some 10 years, this is some of the best character design I've seen. If you ever visit Australia, look me up.

05-13-2008, 01:26 AM
In a few words dude...
Sweeeeet! Aaawesome! Fantastic!
I love your stuff man!
To see you use zbrush to create such a fantastic representation of your sketch is amazing.
I so have to start learning some 3d programs!
05-13-2008, 10:32 AM
yeah, agreed. that zBrush model is totally sweet. your losing absolutely nothing form the feel of the sketch on your way to the model. on the contrary, that's great.
05-13-2008, 04:00 PM
W - O - W

I´ve seen a lot of great stuff in this forum, but this..... . You draw in paper and the colouring in ps? If you´re using a pen tablet can you tell me which one. I know that the tablet does´t make this things by itself, but i´d like to know your opinion about this topic if that´s ok i´m using a graphire and thinking on buy a intuos. Sorry for this out of topic, i just wanted to tell that your work is SUPERB, the line work and the concepts are of the best i saw.

I really like your style. So interesting and edgy.
12-28-2008, 12:18 PM
Let me say first Jeff that your work is very inspirational and you have a great style. Although I said that before, style defines your brush line from everyone else, so that if you drew a picture and didn't put your name on it, people would still know who did it. Yep you know that, but some might not. Your Thor I felt needed a critique, since it seemed to have lost some things in the transition...hope you don't mind.
Little head, Big body, little legs, big hammer...no problem with this, it's playful. Thor could hold a Hammer this size in the way he is holding it with little issue, but the size of the hammer head is vastly overpowering to the rest of the figure. There is a whole lot more detail put into it that Thor is lost. Did you intend that? The head of the hammer has what probably was to be splintered wood on the edge, but to my eye, it looks more like grass blades. Also on the surface of it, there would be a depression where he used it to pound the heads of those non-believers...so maybe repositioning of the hammer is in order. The handle doesn't look to have the meat needed (even with the reinforced shaft) to hold the head, but that is more of opinion probably. As for the figure, there is a conflicting interest where the boot lining meets the cloak edge. It might have helped to make the lining more prominent, separating these two area's. And last, the chest piece, Thor isn't my favorite character by any stretch, but i always look at the way an artist drew out his chest armor first. There are so many great looking elements in there that it demands to be seen, not hidden behind the hammer...
O.K., so that's what I see. Take it with a grain. I enjoy being notified on my email that you posted something new...Thanks for sharing.
The Hellboy's are just amazing. Are they color pencil, or do you have a digital setting on a brush for those?
01-26-2009, 12:08 PM
