View Full Version : Maya - Adding joints to already weighted skeleton

I've got a bit of a problem in Maya 7 at the moment. I've got a fully weighted character ready to start animating, but i've just realised that, due to mis-selection, the joints in the right hand haven't been weighted and don't appear in the weighting tool.

Is there any way of adding joints to the skin weights tool, without detaching and re-binding the skin?

I tried exporting skin weights, detaching the skin, re-selecting the joints (including the hand) and importing weights, but it didn't seem to work properly. Although that may be me using the wrong method of importing the skin weights...

Add the missing joints using "Add Influence" under the Edit Smooth Skin menu.
