View Full Version : Particle Rendering Problem

I've got a problem with rendering particle systems with 50,000+ Particles. When I render only a small segment of the system actually renders, and the rest is just blank. How could I resolve the problem?

Also, it seems that I can't go any higher than 10,000,000 particles in my scene. What's up with that? I've got a gig of ram on a 32bit vista system.

A particle in PFlow in bare minimum configuration data (ID, time of birth + local timer, position, speed, orientation) needs about 70 bytes. 10 million particles translate into 700MB, and we did not assign a shape to particles yet and don't render. Given that, a gig of RAM is nowhere sufficient to run and render this amount of particles.

Much sweeter deal is WinXP 64-bit with 3ds Max 64-bit and 8 Gig of RAM. Then you can really push the limit :) -
