View Full Version : Problems rigging switch between elbow/wrist

Am running into problems rigging a character - hope someone out there can help:-

The character begins the scene inclined, taking the weight on an elbow (the hand is free to move);
The character then plants the hand and lifts himself up from this rest position (taking his elbow off the deck in the process).

Does anyone have any suggestions for switching easily between pivots at the elbow and wrist for this instance?

Using Maya 8.5

Take a look at using an elbow IK setup. Keeping the elbow IK control around as your poleVector once you get to your hand should help make the transition pretty smooth.
