View Full Version : "Kung Fu Jimmy Chow"
04-27-2007, 04:45 PM
Here (http://www.heavy.com/video/11908) is a project by Camp Chaos (http://www.campchaos.com/blog-archives/2007/04/enter_kung_fu_jimmy_chow.html).
Jimmy Chow is a kung fu master on a mission of vengeance: to kill his nemesis, the masked kung fu mistress called The Purple Lady. Along the way, he picks up mall jobs and battles the Purple Lady's cleverly disguised army of assassins, The Purple Ninjas.
Bishop Animation (http://www.bishopanimation.com) was asked to create the animation for the piece. We did all the visuals from just after the intro forward. Bob Cesca and his crew provided us with the boards, character designs, colors, etc. We did all the models, animation, textures, effects, and rough comp. Bob did the final edit.
With the exception of some bits in the intro, the whole piece is 3D. It was a fun project to work on, since it is so different from the stuff we usually work on.
Be sure to watch it on Heavy (http://www.heavy.com/video/11908) and post your comments there.

very funny :scream:
I wonder how much time it took you to complete this, and how many animators were you..

so what are the ninjas wearing? Are those bare ass chaps? That's a little freaky.

CoolCalb: We had a crew of around 7 people on this for a bit over a month. Only 5 animators though.
XLNT-3d:Yes, the ninjas have their butts exposed. It was that way in the character designs we got from Camp Chaos.

I guess between that and the whole titty twister thing, those directors have some strange undertones.
Oh well, glad to see you are busy. Nice work.
Like the post above, tell us more about your company. Are you a lone ranger that uses the occasional guns for hire, or do you have an in-house crew?

Pretty nicely executed, the 2D Shader works well. As said by XLNT-3d, the undertones are very 'tongue in cheek', but strangely enjoyable. I felt like I was watching a comedic episode of the "Ninjai" very gory ;)

technically it's very good, artistically not very good. but looks like alot of work, thumbs up

I don't like how the original characters -which are nice- got translated into 3D. I think that the animation would had worked much betterif it was done in 2D.

Loved it.. I wish the video resolution would have been a bit better, but i really enjoyed it. Reminded me of the old kung fu flicks i used to watch years back.

What other people said before me, technically it's good but artistically.....
Not sure if it's meant to be a parody or something, if that's the case then it's perfect.
that was a hoot, and at the time frame you had! Wow great work. Had fun watching it.

I can't help but be reminded of 'Chinpokomon'. Manga is so lame . But the content isn't your fault, the work you've done is perfect.
"Hey hey let's go kenka suru
Taisetsu na mono protect my balls!
Boku ga warui so let's fighting...
Let's fighting love!" :applause:
So it's parody. Awesome! Cuz it is indeed very very retarded.

Wow! ahh that's amazing and funny! The look is very nice. I love that his chops him to bits with a plastic sample spoon!
The puking monkey was pretty disgusting though D:
Great work! That had me rolling with laughter.

Wow, that's impressive. I think I saw a guy's TD demoreel showing the ninja rig. Most excellent! But 7 people in only 1 month? Wow, you guys must have worked on this full time or something.
