I have years experience with Photoshop 5, 6, and 7. There has not been such a filter in any version. Perhaps it was a filter from a plugin set.

i think you just have not used it. "DITHERBOX" is located
in filters - other... together with high pass, offset, ect...

Can't say I actually know what it does... I geuss I never needed it. It may be depreceated in 7, or perhaps even accidentally missing. Either way, it would be a good idea to simply try copying the filter plugin across from an earlier version. Hopefully it is still compatible with 7.

Yeah Diether Box is great, and it's avaliable since v4 that I can remenber.

Well in version 7 Adobe have not built the Diether Box filter in the installation default, so you have to install him manually. Look into the Adobe Photoshop 7 CD in:
Goodies\Optional Plug-Ins\Ditherbox
There you can find your beloved plugin.

And I agree with you, he's very usefull for web stuff, but you can also play with Halftone Pattern filter avaliable in the Sketch group of filter.

I hope that solves your problem,
See Ya!
