Hello, my name is Wes, I'm currently a junior in college and just completed my first demo reel in hopes of getting an animation internship somewhere this summer. I'd greatly appreciate any feedback you could lend, I'm a longtime reader of this forum but have always been intimidated by the great quality of work always posted here!
Here's my shot breakdown-- (
And here's a direct link to the movie: (

Thanks in advance for any tips or critique you can give

Your animation of your characters is too slow, they look like they are morphing into their key poses, movements need to be more punchier, and follow the laws of animation before you push them, only the first animation for me is close to what it needs to be. There is no real difference in any of the characters acting they all have this air of being really laid back, either take an acting class, sneak in to one and observe (or ask the teacher) or really study movement in film, sit in a park and watch people, or all those.

The monkey at the computer scene, I just didn`t like it for the fact I bothered to flip back and freeze where the MS paper clip pops up so I could read what it says no one from the industry watching your reel is going to bother doing that.

Just my 2p worth...

Thanks for your feedback, that's a good comment. I agree that the text is distracting, I'll go back and cut that out. I'm also thinking of cutting shot four altogether, although that will probably make reel really short. As for the animation, I realize I still have much more to learn, and appreciate the tips. I'll keep what you said in mind for future works.
