View Full Version : Problem With Surface Shader Transparency

Hey everybody. First post. I'm making a 3D set in Maya, and I need to stick decals on the walls. The walls and decals are hand painted, including shadows, and are applied as surface shaders.

The decal needs to have a transparency map, but when I map my transparency file's outColor to to the surface shader's outTransparency, what I get is a matte that is slightly lighter than what's behind it - translucent.

Anybody know how to fix this? Thanks!

I figured out how to do what I want to do using multiple passes. I'm just putting the transparency in the Matte Opacity channel instead.
