Hi all, my latest image :)
Modelled, rendered and textured in Cinema 4D

03-09-2003, 07:37 PM
wire :)

03-09-2003, 07:44 PM
seriously good stuff.. especially love the eyes. C4D keeps on amazing me lately..

only thing bothering me, is that the guy in the foreground doesnt look very integrated with the rest of the scene, prolly because of the dof. dont know if there is a way to fix that though...

03-09-2003, 07:46 PM
very nice texturing!! :bounce: :bounce:

03-09-2003, 07:57 PM
Very nice as usual Squid, you're my procedurals god

03-09-2003, 08:09 PM
the image again with adjusted colours and highlights ( not sure whether I prefer this one or not )

03-09-2003, 08:50 PM
Somewhat frightning, but they also have a look a kindness in them, or at least curiousity.

03-09-2003, 10:47 PM
awesome as usual squidinc! ur style keeps amazing me, as well as ur superb use of materials!

03-09-2003, 11:00 PM
Great work, nice atmosphere!

03-09-2003, 11:05 PM
first of all: great work

i'd prefer the second version if the background was darker, maybe you could give that a try

03-09-2003, 11:10 PM
good light and composition

03-09-2003, 11:22 PM
yeah, that DOF makes it look like a photo of a character standing in front of a painting.

really nice character design btw.

03-09-2003, 11:23 PM
naaic, it's just a bit odd they all have the same pose ;)

03-09-2003, 11:34 PM
Krugar: I know what you mean, it does look a little pasted on, I think its mainly because the far left should probably be in focus as well, I might go back and fix that

joost81: I guess its their rest stance  :p

NO WAY, fist! the first one is better! ;)

squid, this is really a nice pic! As I said, IMO the first one seems better, but you can try as fist said...
Also, I like the way the foreground character is integrated in the scene, knowing that the DOF separates him from the bg. I think that was the way intended by you, nope?
The "alien warrior" that's sitted down seems a little strange in its pose and detached from ground (?).
But I love your work! GREAT!

03-09-2003, 11:50 PM
reminds me of something...but I don't know what...

good job !!!

03-10-2003, 12:27 AM
First one is BETTER! Go back to that lighting. First, first, first...

Excellent little critters you got there BTW...

03-10-2003, 12:47 AM
so good !
nice background and environment

03-10-2003, 12:57 AM
Very nice work. I like the work on your site too.

Your work is testament that you don't need expensive software to produce nice is all in the skill of the user.

Nice stuff, I cannot wait to see more.

03-10-2003, 01:47 AM
Yeah, awsome characters and composition. Just fix the DOF so that it is real and not just blurs. You need the cavern to be in focus too upfront.

Well, C4D complete is about 2500$, call it cheap :D

03-10-2003, 03:08 AM
it looks great. The only thing that I would bother to fix is that they all have the same pose.

03-10-2003, 03:22 AM
Wow up here again squidinc, Great stuff, your developing a second definite style, its either robots or bugs now it seems, beautiful piece I always love your colour schemes, they tend to match my prefered colour scheme :)

03-10-2003, 03:57 AM

Very cool character and scene design- the surfacing on the bg walls is well done.

I prefer the first version because the subtle cool blue color lighting heightens the contrast so as to emphasize the warm colors of their eyes.

03-10-2003, 08:15 AM
squidinc, congrats on the plug! You deserve it man!
Nice to see some C4D here too!
Keep it up you mad-fast modeller!

03-10-2003, 08:47 AM

03-10-2003, 10:01 AM
I like it verrry much. =)
Try give them all other posses.

03-10-2003, 11:38 AM
Every so often a user comes along and displays such incredible work that you yourself would like to try their software. And my friend that you did, C4D is quite impressive I must say ;) but anyhoo other than the fact that all the drones have the same pose (maybe they're all linked to the same remote ;)) its fantastic! Did you use bodypaint at all?

BTW your work is fricking astounding man

You have received the CGtalk choice award .Please feel free to display this image anywhere you like! Incredible work.

upon receiving this award, it guarantees you a spot in the cgtalk gallery hall of fame ( - which you are now placed

hehe cool cheers for the award, I 'd like to thank..

all textures were made using C4d's procedurals, I found I didn't need to use bodypaint for this one :)

03-10-2003, 01:18 PM

03-10-2003, 01:18 PM
U :buttrock: man!!! Very very nice job

I love the eyes of the creatures.... the reflection / glow in those eyes is beatifull

03-10-2003, 01:21 PM
Very cool!

03-10-2003, 05:15 PM
the second one really pops out at me. I guess the higher color values and small details that can be seen more promenently make it look a little more alive. I really like the style you have acheived with this peice. good work

03-10-2003, 06:52 PM
wow  : this is amazing... terrific work!!!

03-10-2003, 07:13 PM
Cool work Squidinc. Nothing much to say that hasen't been said, but I agree that the forground one pops out form the rest. Maybe having something in the foreground, or some background element that's between the focus of the main creature and the ones way in the back.

back to work

03-10-2003, 07:23 PM
I like the first one way better! It has a better mood to it. More creepy, the blue lighting contrasts with the glowing eyes in the first one.

Anyhow, excellent work.

03-10-2003, 08:02 PM
i have a question to you squidinc

how did you realize the noisy look in c4d ?
or did you worked it over in photoshop or something ?

03-10-2003, 08:05 PM
I think Squid does post work in photoshop but for those of you who didnt know he never paints his textures its almost always all procedurals.

03-10-2003, 08:36 PM
yeah, the noise was done in photoshop afterwards as I quite liked effect it made :)

the DOF was done in photoshop aswell which is why its a little off

03-10-2003, 08:41 PM
hehe, how many of these awards do you have now squid? incredible as always, you really deserve the font page plug, and renderosity artist o the month, congrats! :applause:
