03-09-2003, 03:54 PM

03-09-2003, 05:08 PM
F***ing amazing man! very very well done. You don't have any tuts on texturing do you?:bounce: :bounce:

03-09-2003, 05:09 PM
.::STRIKE::. , this is very cool:p
Especially the textures are looking very detailed!

03-09-2003, 05:10 PM
Woah great model, great details. Could be a model for Quake IV :)

03-09-2003, 05:10 PM
inspiring work you´ve done there! the head is really soft and fleshy. I also like the metal and the color range you used. I took a look at the progress of this image and I must say it truly turned out nicely in the last worksteps.

5 stars from me!

03-09-2003, 05:11 PM
Damn! I quit telling you that this is good :applause:

03-09-2003, 05:14 PM
the armor looks heavy, are there gonna be any hydraulics in it?

btw amazing work :)

03-09-2003, 05:17 PM
Great work Strike, I love the texturing...particularly the metal!

This guy looks tough and dangerous, definitely a battle-hardened look to him, he's seen action and could probably crack some skulls without too much trouble :D

Reminds me of the Firebat from Starcraft....can hear him saying "I loooove the smell of napalm!" while hosing down a pack of zerglings with his flamethrower :)

Oh, and I really like the damaged look to his left eye.

03-09-2003, 05:35 PM
awsome dude..

03-09-2003, 06:22 PM

his right eye is disabled, which makes the character more of a character. i like it

03-09-2003, 06:54 PM
very cool

03-09-2003, 06:55 PM
Outstanding. :applause:

Could you post some info on your texturning methods; procedurals? Image maps? UV or projection? :)

03-09-2003, 08:09 PM
Thx all !! :)

For surfacing i used both procedurals and image maps :

first i created this one under photoshop with different brushes and selections :

Then i created all my procedural like below, and playing between them and alpha images, created with the last one desaturated.

Then i reproduced the main procedurals between my speculars, reflections and bump.

And most important things to have this feeling was a HDRI in background, that is mainly orange/yellow/copper colored.

Then i did the same for the most clear section, by just changing my color from the color map to a lighter one.

03-09-2003, 08:35 PM
that's awsome :buttrock:

he looks like frostbite from ut2k3

03-09-2003, 10:28 PM
I love your Quads.

Oh yeah.

03-09-2003, 11:16 PM
Very impressive! It's a great leap from the previous image with the same character. I like very much the metal texturing

03-10-2003, 12:49 AM
hm... it looks very nice..
but the nose looks like needs to be improved..
coz looks a little weird..

03-10-2003, 01:41 AM
Wowwe! Looks awesome :d

03-10-2003, 01:45 AM
Wow, looks really good man!

03-10-2003, 02:12 AM
Does the WIP have anything to do with the anti aliasing? That is sticking out. I'd like to see a bit more for a better composition...

03-10-2003, 02:45 AM
Well done, STRIKE. I love the texture and shadering of this pics. keep post up.

03-10-2003, 03:46 AM

Got a look at you website, really nice work, love your ligthing.:applause:

03-10-2003, 05:08 AM
Mind you, in the time honoured fashion of critique maketh masters grandmasters...

I had a good look at your wires, and it strikes me that you could get much more control over your bevelled details if you add a few more edges. Im talking specifically about those bevelled in round pits in the shoulders. The meshsmooth makes 'em round, but you could get much nicer shapes at lower meshsmooth iterations.

...but like anyone but an anal retentive mesh modeller would notice.

Take a bow or six.

this has always been my problem. the image map looks photorealistic enough. i dont think i'll be able to get anything like that in photoshop, unless i use a photographed image. if you dont mind me asking: how did you do it? and how long did it take you?

your work is awesome: it reminds me of the brotherhood of steel's power armor. your textures are excellent.. i wish i could be half as good as that.

03-10-2003, 08:27 AM
Really cool !!!! :bounce:
Great modeling and texturing and.... !!!! Well done !!!!

03-10-2003, 09:08 AM
OMG,that's great!!! can u just tell us something about how u made that beautiful eyes?:applause:

03-10-2003, 09:12 AM
well thanks to all of you guys (and girls ?) :) I can't answer to each of you, but i was not expected so many replies for this image :)

Anyway I don't think i deserve an award for this one like some of you tell about it, it's just an image ;)

Thx again to each of you ! :) (thx Nanogator, Pascal : merci, ça me fait plaisir un compliment de ta part :) )

faulknermano : About doing this kinda image under photoshop i would just tell you to create your own brushes. Have a BG paint unicolor, brush all around with some special forms, and then select some part with magic selection, create some new layers with different colors on this selection, and do that 3 or 4 times. Then you just have to copy the whole thing and change the main colors in one (red colors for this one) Secret is creating your own brushes.

See you all next image :)

03-10-2003, 09:19 AM
well about the eye : (sorry i just saw i moved my globe during the screen capture)

And i forgot to say i used LIGHTWAVE 7.5 for the whole thing

03-10-2003, 09:25 AM

One of my favourite cgi works ever! A MASTER ,A MASTER!

03-10-2003, 10:09 AM
looks awesome, Strike! :D :bounce:

mmm ubertastic texturing work :d~~~~

03-10-2003, 11:06 AM
Really nice work!

I like the forms of the model - simply nice design.

If I would crit something:
the rivets on the armor next to his head (on both sides) arent all circular - it seems strange in my opinion, you should make them all the same shape and not mix circ - oval . The texture is well painted but a bit regular. It would be cool to make armor painted and scratched / rusted in weathered areas.

Inspite of my comments its pretty solid nice work!!

Keep working, man ...and posting:beer:

03-10-2003, 11:33 AM
Like I said b4 Strike, you really knocked my socks off with this one  can't wait to see the absolute final. But till then

will u going to animate....this character...???

03-16-2003, 12:54 AM
Wow man, great job.

I love the textures and mat settings.

03-16-2003, 01:04 AM
Great work. Nice color choice. My only crit would be that in the modeling the bridge at the top of the nose where it meets his brow seems pinched even though his expression is relaxed. Very minor tho.

03-16-2003, 04:58 AM
that poor gy lost an eye.:surprised

03-19-2003, 08:42 PM
