I'm completely new to HLSL shading, and I'd just like to be able to preview them in the Maya viewport (with a mind to developing them at some point, but to start with it'd just be nice to get them working in Maya).
I know the ASHLI and cgFx plugins are supposed to be able to handle the of previewing HLSL shaders, but have had no luck when using them on the example shaders I have. Generally I'll get an invalid declaration error on the first line of uncommented code of any given shader.
I've heard that the DirectX SDK comes with a plugin to preview directX shaders in maya, but can't find any the plugin for the version of maya I'm using (maya 8.5).
If anyone has had any success previewing HLSL shaders in maya, it'd be great to hear where I'm going wrong.
