Hi guys!:wavey:

Here a scene that i made with a minidisc player model from Víctor Ruiz [yoda]
I modeled and illuminated the rest of the scene.

C&C are wellcome!!!:D

wow, nice thing...

But a pity you made the wood look small, it makes the "mini" disc player so big.

For the rest, no comment:applause:

Everything is good...especially the lighting and material!

What softeare did u use? and HOW U DID IT??:buttrock:

03-07-2003, 11:48 PM
Yeah thanks for the comments :buttrock::buttrock:and too for five stars!!!!!

3ddy, yes the wood is so small but it didn´t have so much quality to put it bigger.

kero san, it´s made with 3dstudio max 5 (brazil render) and photoshop :)

They've got a lot...

Wow, great stuff

Can you tell me how you made the material for the player? Looks really awesome

03-08-2003, 12:23 AM
Materials look great but I'm kind of unsettled on the wood. Escpecially around the knot area on either side the cracks they are too black and it makes the edges seem too sharp. It looks like the wood is just one plane instead of modelled planks(??). If you model them up you will be able to let some light spill into those cracks a bit and sell the effect better in my opinion. There's also something about the placement of the lights vs. the shadow direction and spec off the objects I'm still trying to figure out....Good looking image though....:)

03-08-2003, 12:46 AM
looks really great. Only comment is the same as above, the wood. Please tell how you did the blurred reflections so well:)

03-08-2003, 01:30 AM
That's fantastic :applause:

The metal surface of the player itself is particularly well done

Great work!

03-08-2003, 01:45 AM
With what and how did you light and render this absolutely piece? The lighting and shadows are magnificant and are only over shadowed by the textures used. Holy Crap thats nice work!:applause:

03-08-2003, 01:58 AM
wow, very photorealistic. and i agree about the metal texture, its really well done.

03-08-2003, 02:26 AM
I really love the lighting on this piece and it looks great all around. My only crit. is the edge of the wood, it looks to clean and sharp.
Great work:beer:

03-08-2003, 02:28 AM
Fantastic modeling and texturing. The only two little pieces are in the pic I included. Why is that piece of metal so bright when it's in shadow?

Also, the sticker peeling up isnt too believable.

03-08-2003, 02:35 AM
really nice texturing on some parts of the scene, though the lightning isnt really photorealistic and some materials neither. but its still really great work !!! :)

cheers mcf

03-08-2003, 04:44 AM
the resolution on the wood is alittle low compared to the rest of the scene.

03-08-2003, 05:31 AM
:applause: very nice indeed! But sorry to spoil the joy, somehow i think the floor is a little flat. Could be my eyes but i think the texture just doesn't seem to stand out that much for the wood. My suggestion maybe model the wood one by one then texture it. The holes between the wood pieces are the thing making it look flat for my point of view.

Overall, the image is...   LoL!

03-08-2003, 06:30 AM
gawd so good....
plus I like it even more cause its made with 3dsmax; since im somewhat new to max, I like seeing its potential! reat job!!

only crit really is that it looks a bit big cause the wood planks look sooo tiny!!

03-08-2003, 06:46 AM
Very photorealistic.:applause:

Very nice use of Shaders and Lighting! The metal looks great.
I agree about the comments on the wood but that is a minor thing.

03-08-2003, 08:44 AM

I'm in awe of your modelling skills. The wood as mentioned is a little small in compared to the minidisc but overall the textures on both are above approach.

Agreed, you have done your homework bud  That player must've taken ages to get accurate, and it came out wonderful! if it wasn't for the wood I'd swear it was a photo :p. Excellent stuff

The model is great but I also feel the wood texture spoils the scene somewhat.

It looks like the MD player and the discs are the size of a VCR.

Thanks for all the comments!!!:bounce: and lildragon thanks for the prize:D:D:D

On shaders, because they are simple materials with blurry reflections but they are left well, thanks to hdr:P

That's truth, the wood is too much small, when I'll have a digital camera, I promise i'll model that wood and put a a texture with better quality;)

Thanks in advance, CYM!!!

Did you model this or did you get the model from somewhere else? Your first post said something about Víctor Ruiz, did he do the modelling for this scene? Just fuzzy on what's going on in the scene, still dig the materials dude....

I really like the soft, difussed reflection on the player. the only things I can make commend on are everything is a bit too clean. and the wood floor is kind of flat. nice work thou!

Well, i modeled the minidisc player some time ago, just for fun.
During a time, it was a free model that i put in my website.

Hey I've got 3ds max® 6 Bible and there is the pic you just posted here (the minidisc player)! :D Cool! You're popular! ;)

Completely awesome! The details are great, flawless. I think the wood looks very realistic, and since the minidisk is the main focus I don't think the color should've been too overpowering.
