This might be a really simple problem for you, but this is my first proper model+rig so I'm quite stuck.
Basically, I have this model, built of several subdivs:
The feet+ears etc work fine, but I'm having trouble. When I select any of the arm joints (in this case "j_l_shoulder") and rotate, I get massive distortion in the face:
I thought it would be easy to sort with Paint Weights, but on that selection it doesn't allow me to make any changes to the weighting of the face (and even trying to paint on the chest is tricky). Also, trying to Smooth Flood here causes Maya to crash :(
My question is this: Is there anything I can do to stop this deformation of my toon's face to make a clean transition? I tried converting to poly, but had the same problem (not as bad though, but I'd like to keep as subdiv if possible).
Sorry if it's a dumb question, I'm just new to this and haven't been able to figure it out for a few days.
