Well, I'm starting my thread for King Leonidas. I'm pretty pumped. Look forward to seeing everyone else's work.

Okay, time for my first real big update. Here's some preliminary references for both the head and the body.

By the way, in that last image, you can see the beard. I'm going to bump map that and specular map that later to look much more believable. Any how, does anyone know of a better way to go about doing the beard? Thanks.

Edit: Here's the image I was working with. I edited it of course.

I've never done hair myself so I can't help you with beard (I'm currently having fun trying to create his hair), but I'm pretty sure that he used alot of prosthetics in 300 for facial features as you can barely tell they are the same person. Using reference pictures outside of 300 may give you an unrelated look to how he looks in 300. Just a tip.

Thanks for the reply. About the reference images, yeah, I didn't think I should have used the basic head drawing for much, but I just wanted to get a good looking sphere going. I tried to be careful and true to the frontal image when I was around the facial area. The rest of the head I used the side view. I was just looking for some basic reference information and now I'm trying to make him look more like Leonidas. Thanks for your comments.

Edit: I'm going to be adding some more images here's shortly.
