OK, I own the educational version of Lightwave 5.5 and would like to know the best place to buy the commercial upgrade to 7.5. Should I just go through the Newtek site or is there a cheaper way that I may not be aware of? Also, upgrade are $495. Does this apply to educational versions as well?

I ordered my regular upgrade from Dynamic Realities (http://www.dynamic-realities.com/) . Everyone else was selling it for $395 and they had it for $295 on a special sale. I don't know if they can handle the educational upgrades or not.
I've dealt with Safe Harbor (http://www.sharbor.com/) in the past as well. I think their pricing is pretty much inline with what is in the Newtek Store (http://www.newtek.com/buynow/lw_products.html)

Basically, the Newtek site isn't the most money saving route, as I'm sure they have contracts and agreements with their retailers and distributors that they would not offer a lower price than them.

You can also order the upgrade from us, and I can give you a discount on your purchase of the upgrade.
last Time I checked with NewTek the Upgrade is $395.00
From Academic to Commercial 7.5

$395 is right. the upgrade from educational to commercial carries with the software upgrade to the latest version.
