View Full Version : branching vein/artery

anyone have experience with (or ideas on how to) model branching structures like veins, arteries, trees, etc. I'm looking for a smooth connected transition between the trunk and the branches. All of the programs I've tried (xfrog, paintFX) make branching structures, but the branches are separate objects from the trunk. I've tried booleans to connect them but haven't had success with that either.
Ideally, I'd like to be able to create curves and then skin them all with a contiguous surface.
And, I'd need some control over thickness along the length of the vein.

Hi! I had to model trees once and what I did was fairly simple. I boxed modeled around 5 different branches and attached them to 3 different tree "bodies". That's enough variety for a forest and it took me very little time, leaves included. (for the leaves, I used a scatter).

here's the result:

How did you attach them to the 'tree bodies'?
