View Full Version : HMC 8: Don Vito Corleone - Full body

Hi to all. I was very excited when I saw one of my favourite character in the list so, I will have a fun to model it. And the character I chose is Don Vito Carleone. I'll do my best and happy modelling!;)

There are lots of Corleone's references in the internet and I am showing some of them now. I'm thinking about the pose that will be in my final work. It would be quite boring, if I chose the one in bottom left because Don Corleone is always shown as boss sitting on his chair in the office. In the other hand, it's his main pose.

Okay. I started to form the head and in the future I'm going to put this model in zBrush to add some wrinkles and texture. But before that I have to make the body. Here is the modeling steps of Marlon's head.
And some other pics.
C&C are very welcome.:)

I have a question for you... first off great job... it really looks like him... can't wait to see the final product...
Second is my question... What kind of modeling method are you using... I've seen it done before but I never heard the name of the method... and is it easier in your opinion than box modeling?
Just a few questions... but again great job... can't await to see him finished.

Thanks Morphius! I think it is called poly by poly modeling...I'm not sure. I couldn't say which modeling is better because I use them both:). But I usually use poly by poly for organic modeling because it's easier for me to deal with poly flow. I just extrude main edges and then connect them adding the new ones. It's very helpful when you have to match the reference.

I believe it's referred to simply as 'poly-modelling'. I find it more intuitive and flexible than box-modeling (at least with humanoid heads).
Also, the head looks fantastic, you seem to have included all the defining features and topology. And of course, the subject is a personal favorite of mine...

Mac, thanks! Ok. The deadline is near and I decided to do bust instead of whole body. I did a neck, fixed UVW and put this model into zBrush. If I have much more time, I'll truly finish it.

Now this model is in 4th sbdiv level. Soon I'll add some smaller wrinkles and skin bumps.
I look forward for your C&C.
