View Full Version : tweak node purpose?

hey everyone,
just curious to know what data is stored in tweak nodes. weighting information (value, influences) is stored in the skin cluster (right?), so if weighting is in skin clusters, vert index information (x,y,z) is on the vert itself, what does the tweak node serve as (as related to a bound mesh)?

The tweak node give's you the ability to move vertex (CV's) after you bind the object to a skinCluster (for example).. if you turn it off you'll not be able to move the vertex since their position is controled by the skinCluster ....

When you have clear geometry (without deformers) and you move vertex the information is stored directly in the vertex'es, but when you have something going in the input of that geometry (like the skinCluster or a deformer) if you move the vertex the information is stored in that tweak node...

oh cool, so does it contain kind of like offsets? like the vertex stores its world space and tweak stores any offsets after the mesh is skinned?

open Maya and go to Help >> Node and Attribute reference... then

By Substring(s) - type "Tweak" and you can see there what are the attributes for that node
