View Full Version : Basic Mechanical Rig

He I know this is really simple but I can't work it out. Basically I want an IK rig so I can move the blue object around so the levers follow where attached but are locked to their pivot points. I'm using 3ds max.

Create a bone chain consisting of two bones and it's nub on the red element. Start at the cyan crossed pivot, move the second ones pivot to the point where the blue part meets the red part. Apply an HI IK. Create another bone(+Nub) on the other element, startng at it's cyan crossed pivot, the nub located on the other end where the blue part meets the black part. Position constraint the HI IK target to the nub of the second bone chain.

Move the whole thing by selecting/moving the nub of the second bone chain.
