I chose The Warriors. What could be better than a theme gang multiplayer fight game. :D Complete with 70's soundtrack.
I modeled the main character Swan who is the lead gang warchief for The Warriors. Right now he's about 1800 polies but I want to get that down to about 1500. Let me know what you think. I'll post a better ref pic when I get the chance.

nice head and hair! youve nailed this guys character down pretty good.. ive noticed a couple funny things though.
from the 3/4 view the neck looks normal but from the front its really thick.. there is a muscle/tendon that runs from behind the ear,and down in front of the adams apple.. if your polys follow that curve you should get a really nice neck. you dont need any other polys sticking out in the front..
also this guys pelvis is a little wide.. the pelvis on a male is usually 1 1/4 heads wide.. a womans is usually 1 3/4 - 2 heads wide.. so your inching toward female proportions. id widen the shoulders/ribcage a touch to make it read better in the game, and shrink that pelvis down alot. the femur has a distinct curve to it so your legs could benefit from a gradual curve in to the knees

Cool looking character so far, and a great idea to model this guy. I think Rockstar Games is already making a game based on "The Warriors" so maybe when you finish this model it'll help you get a job with them! :thumbsup:
I especially like the vest and the hair, although the hair could stand to be a little higher at the top. Why are you only going for 1500 polys? Multiple levels of detail would be nice for your portfolio, but for submitting to the contest I'd recommend using the full alloted 2500 polys. Good luck!

Heh, I'll have to send them a sample. I suppose making him higher res would work as it's easier to work down detail, at least for me.
MrHappyPants-thanks a lot! Always good to get a fresh set of eyes on things. I'll make some adjustments.
I'll be using this guy to learn maya's rigging too. I'm gonna give some thought to what he'd need for motion loops.

I am working on the IK stuff for his rig in maya and ran into a problem. When I add elbow and knee pole vector constraints, it throws the IK angle off. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? First pic is before constraint, second is after.

Still have to finish some detials on his eyes and hair. Any suggestions feel free to make em'. ;)
Da Krunch-I think what you are talking about is the shadow. Nothing odd geometry-wise.

Pretty much done with his maps. Still want to fix the eyes a bit. I'll be adding a bat and some sort of background. Let me know if you have any suggestions peeps.
I'll be finishing his rigging soon so I can pose and animate him.

Still have to add to his texture some and edit the weights a bit. All rigged and ready to rumble though. ;)

man this looks AWESOME! i havent seen the posed shots. nice nice! I think this would make such a cool and unique game character.. hes not all thick like a muscle fatty ;)
hope that company making the game keeps up the quality
