I know I'm late but heres my thread. I have a broken arm (don't ask!) and I'm waiting to get my cast off so I can start the model.

Here are some very rough thumbs.

Concept coming very soon!

02 February 2007, 11:15 PM
im loving the silhouette, especially on teh 4th one..

02 February 2007, 07:45 AM
Thanks. I am working out the details so a more finished concept will be up soon.

02 February 2007, 06:00 AM
This is my first concept for this guy. I know the centaur thing has been done but this guy is ready to kick some arse. Hope you guys like it...

...more to come.

Here are a couple shots of the base mesh created in Maya. I am going to try sculpting in MudBox instead of ZBrush just to keep things interesting. This should be fun since I've never used it before.

Times running out so please excuse the mad dash that will be taking place in this thread.

03 March 2007, 10:57 AM
Good start on the model ... could you provide some more information about
tri-count and a wire shot?

03 March 2007, 08:05 AM
The images above are not the "basemesh", they are shots of the box model in MudBox before I started sculpting.

Here is a little more progress.

more to come...

03 March 2007, 08:10 AM
Still working but here are some detail shots of his hands.

03 March 2007, 07:54 PM
This is the finished HiRes without the armor on it. I have no idea how I am going to get this done in time but I will.

03 March 2007, 08:40 PM
Nice centaur. I like the variations, espec the rear toe spikes. Do you think they're big enough and strong enough to balance the front end? Centaurs are naturally front-heavy, I think he could use really overpowered rear legs.

03 March 2007, 03:12 AM
Good point. I think I will compensate the rear half with some gear to try and bulk it up a bit.

03 March 2007, 05:34 PM
I am going to post images of my progress here shortly.

03 March 2007, 08:12 PM
YES!!! I just got my cast off this morning. I can model now. 4 days left, I hope I can finish.

03 March 2007, 03:01 PM
I really like how the model is turning out. The mouth area is looking a littlebit funny imho ... like an angry rabbit ;)

Ah and you should take a look on the Dominance War Website ... because they've updated the deadline ... so you got a littlebit more time to finish your entry.

03 March 2007, 05:11 PM
Its funny that you say that he looks like an angry rabbit because thats exactly what I thought when I looked at it. His mouth looks funny now because he is actually going to have something in his mouth similar to a horse's bit.

That extension feels like a ton of bricks have been lifted off my shoulders.

Thanks for the crit.

Here are some rough gear concepts. I have labeled them so that you guys and gals can let me know which one you think is most successful. I have to finish modeling soon so your opinion will be much appreciated.:)

my initial reaction would be for A, C, or H in choosing.

GL, and better hurry :)

03 March 2007, 11:38 AM
I like the headgear and shoulder pads on C, don't cover up too much of that gorgeous face. I'm a big fan of asymmetry, so I like the straps in B for one arm and the gauntlet in A or K ro the other. I also like the asymmetrical shoulders in K, but then you'd need the gauntlet arm to be on the same side as the shoulder pad, and the strappy arm on the same side as the cloaked shoulder. Any combo will look great, I'm sure.

03 March 2007, 05:21 PM
Cool character! I like the "I"

03 March 2007, 11:27 PM
Thank you guys for your opinions, you really helped me make a decision. I agree that he should have certain pieces from some of the better roughs. I think he will be a little of C,K and H.

03 March 2007, 12:15 AM
wicked gear sketches, man, can't wait to see this guy decked out.

03 March 2007, 12:25 AM
Thanks man. I'm working on it right now so I'll post something soon.

03 March 2007, 03:15 PM
Yeah, this looks more interesting than most of the centuar inspired posts Ive seen.

03 March 2007, 10:32 AM
it looks like a giant bunny, looking very nice so hurry and lets build a bunny army

03 March 2007, 07:18 AM
I will say go for B or E, since the character is rather top heavy, the front legs/hands could use some gears for composition and support purposes. Don't forget his back portion also! Nice progress but work faster! Don't waste your good work.

03 March 2007, 07:54 AM
Nice selection of armour styles! I like C I think.

Looking forward to see him kitted out!

03 March 2007, 05:25 PM
I'm just getting around to seeing your entry Andrew, I really like his appearance. Not sure what armor set you ended up using, but somehow I don't imagine it will matter as they all look good.

Hope to see this get finished.

Great work.

03 March 2007, 10:43 PM
The HiRes is finished and now I'm working on the low-res. Its going to be tight but I'll make it.

I'm going to be posting images more frequently now that I'm beginning to layout UVs(which is a freakin' blast!)

03 March 2007, 05:12 AM
Very cool man, like the cape you have going on there.

Keep it up!

03 March 2007, 06:30 AM
Nice work with the armor! Though I would have love to see a more bottom focus design :D
The cloak's ends with a twist! Nice one. Weapon of choice?

03 March 2007, 05:25 PM
He has an axe. It is similar to the one in the concept and it is ready to be textured. I'll post it soon.

03 March 2007, 06:05 PM
hey nice work man. i wasnt sure about the rear spikes at first but i think its workin out now:)i love the armor, just my style. interesting cape idea, like it alot although its not the most pausible design it definately works. is he biting on that piece of armor? maybe because he gets lashed before battle to hype him up, ya know like them cylindrical things slaves would bite on as they got whipped. its like in lotr when they put blood in the helm of the urik kai beserker to get him all nutty before he ****s som1 up.haha. just an idea. are you thinking a brownish coloration for skin? i think if you were to actually give him the feeling as a caged beasty his armor might not work well on him. so far the armor is giving off an imperial-high ranked look so n/m. anyways ill be followin it. keep it up!

03 March 2007, 04:56 AM
I never thought of it that way but that would be cool to have him as some sort of insane slave berserker. But there are only two days left so I must go with the flow. His skin will be a tan/brown leather skin color but thats actually all that I have figured out.

Does anyone have any ideas for an armor color scheme? The cape will be red.

03 March 2007, 06:08 AM
I'm finished. Well at least for tonight. I finished my submission with no time to spare. I would have liked more time to rig and pose my character, as well as make my submission layouts nicer but I honestly had no time left. Freakin' A.

I hope you guys like it. I'm going to render out a 360 for you guys later.

03 March 2007, 07:31 AM
very nice AndrewBina ! i think the textures don't do justice to the highpolu model. some dirt here and there would help.
