The concept goes something like this: A sleeping spirtit buried under the earth is awakened by a darkforce. As the creature rose from the dead it complied its new body of materials close by. The creature is composed of "dead" root and ancient sacred stone. The darkcoma moves with its snake-like roots and plants its foot while attacking.

Looks like we've both had roughly the same idea. My take on the spirit / root / rock thing looks like this ( Should be very interesting to see how they turn out. :)

Here are some shots of the begining of my modeling process. The left leg, which is all root, will be bent back once the model is rigged.
Also does a shoulder mounted rocket launcher count as a weapon or gear? -because it would be "mounted" on the shoulder not permentatly attached.

Heres an update, I am ready to bring the model into Zbrush. The current model is about 5950 polys.
any feedback?

Hello All! Thank god for the extra time. Here are some quick renders in Maya of my evil rock-root-man. I am about to create the specular maps and a simple glow map. The glow map will correlate with the eyeball and red hieroglyphics. I have to refresh my memory on how to create a glow map in Maya. Can anyone give me some quick glow map tips?

Ultemate Ė thank you

Since we are given an extra week, I now have time to give my character a weapon. Originally I was thinking a shoulder mounted rocket launcher but thatís been done before plenty of times. I have not seen a character with a boomerang in a while (except for Link). I made the weapon huge to make the composition more dynamic. Also some blood will be added to the boomerang to add fear. Only problem is I am not sure what material to make the boomerang. I want to keep things consistent, but I donít see a stone boomerang being very functional. Any thoughts on materials?

Also since we have more time I could use a harsh crit.
